Your Big, Fat XXX Greek Birthday

Last few drives I’ve been in the mood for the radio. Well, it just so happened that today, throughout my close to 4 hours of driving time, I heard Roxette’s Listen to your Heart 4 times. I love Roxette but I find it odd that it’s always on the radio. I swear Hank FM got a hold of one of my old mix tapes though: Friends in Low Places, Watermelon Crawl, and Baton Rouge. I totally knew every word, so I was having fun.
Anyway, lots to cover. last night a group of us went out for Justin’s bday…no photos unfortunately. Started the evening at Chumley’s then moved to Harry’s for quite a bit. I had an interesting conservation with this Kindari kid. Apparently, Purdue has a nationally recognized sound design program…like people at the big companies know the guy that runs the department and call him “the best.” I’d seriously debated taking courses in that but then accepted that I had 0 skills to build from. So yeah, lots of ppl were out with us. I had a Jager bomb, and I was like “what is Jager exactly? I think I like it.” I may have had one in the past, but I think I was too gone to remember it clearly.
So we finally all headed down the hill to the cactus. It was my first time, and it was completely not what I expected. The trip down the hill was amusing though. Justin & Amy called the art director at work…I think he requested a drunk call. *shrug* But yeah, I’m really not sure how we didn’t get arrested looking back on it. We were walking in the road, and I was just staring at the headlights and then I said “oh shit, we’re in the road” so yeah the car or maybe it was the guys inside, yelled “get out of the road!!” I immediately screamed “bitches!” at them. I was walking with Alex & Kindari, and I turned and said “Crap, I shoulda said bastards, right?” but Alex said “bitches” was way funnier coming from a girl so I got a high five, except we both apparently suck at high-five’s so we evolved to a high-pinky throughout the night.
We checked out the martini bar, which seemed random and then the boys & a girl with us won themselves Bacardi-wear at the blackjack table. Ok so there was this random oldish looking dude with long hair there and Amy told me he’d been a regular there for like 5 years and that one night, she danced with him and she thinks it made his day. But the thing is, the dude dances all Casanova-like so it’s amusing…hmm she said she was gonna but she never did have a reunion dance with him. Too bad.
So Alex decided the saddle on the counter needed ridden. He was kindly asked to get off. Not 10 minutes later, he was approached and asked to leave. We can’t quite decide what he’d done after that to make 3 security guys approach him…all he could think of was walking briskly. They said he’d had a little too much to drink, which was strange because really, he was one of the more sober ones of the group. But yeah, not too shabby of a time getting kicked out my first night.
We walked back up the hill…XXX was too full but as members of our party started singing, “America…fuck yeah…”, random passersby chimed in. Man, and then Taco Bell was way too busy so we went to the Parthenon. They gave us 2 plates of free gyros because they apparently liked us. It was awesome! So after chatting there for a while, we finally made it back to cars. Gosh, I started the car and saw “4:08 am” on the clock. I had no fricken idea it was that late, so I kinda freaked. It was a good time overall or at least I thought so. I got along great with Amy & Alex’s friends. I’m looking forward to hanging out with that crew more.

So yes, today…I attended a homeowner’s dinner at a fancy community in Zionsville. There were only a few that were snobby, but by the time we ate, I ended up at the cool ppl table…British couple with a son who is a usability architect for Allstate and this agent for the client I was there for. After talking to his fiancé, I finally figured out why his name was so familiar…he has a band…named after himself. So yeah, I took photos for an hour & a half and recorded top-secret conversations. 235 photos and I only need 20 but yeah, I had to pass the time somehow with all these strangers. My shakiness is getting worse though. I really had to focus on being steady.
ooh funny thing, though, was that all the men started rambling their theories on why I was taking their photo. It was amusing: checking our identities against our vehicle registration and recording how much food we eat for our bill (hehe but then the other guy was like…I think we already got our bill ;) They’re the guys pictured…totally grumpier old men duo…old people are fun). No real stellar shots…not many options…but I love how the women’s facial expressions completely say what they were talking about…I think I caught the entire facial language.
After that, I went on a 2-hour journey around the north side…Carmel, Westfield, and Noblesville. It was so pitch dark…not the ideal time to look at houses, but it was nice to get a feel for the nightlife. I was driving around with the windows down to do a noise check. Some places were kinda letdowns once I saw the neighbors…way too many people were sitting on lawn chairs in their garages and every house had way too many vehicles. 3 seem promising, though, so I’m gonna schedule real tours of them. Oddly enough, I had my best gut feeling with a one right off 146th in Carmel…it was surprisingly quiet but it was night too…but I fear I’ve been wussified…I was just bothered by how much more comfortable I felt right in the heart of town. May have to hit up my c-town ppl to get their opinions about neighborhoods.
