Yesterday was Beautiful

Yesterday I had to get some photos of the red bud trees for a project I’m working on. I never really found a good grouping though. I walked around our backyard and got some close-ups (bottom pic). I’d never really looked at a red bud that closely before. I took this photo of the creek while I was wandering. That’s about 200 feet behind my parent’s house. Maybe that helps to explain why I like visiting home, despite some of the accompanying drama. My little brother picked some mushrooms so we had those for lunch. Mushroom hunting was always great fun back in the day. Oh, and you’ll note the sun is shining. It was so warm outside, but as I was driving back towards west Lafayette, the only hints of this same weather were in my rear view mirror.

There’s a chance for 2” of snow this weekend, and it’s about 37 degrees right now with horrible wind. I decided against planting the petunias I won, but I did plant the lemon thyme herb I snatched from home. Herbs are die-hard. Here’s a pic of the back of the parent’s house. My room is behind the red tree (my precious Japanese maple). I loved my room. Mom’s wanting to redecorate it as a guest room. I’m still trying to fight that. We both know they’ll never have guests heh.
At my meeting Thursday evening, I heard that the History channel series, Modern Marvels, has contacted my hometown about building a covered bridge there. The concept of the show is to have skilled craftsmen recreate architecture from the past, like a castle tower, draw bridge, and covered bridge. They contacted us since we’re the covered bridge capital of the world. We were able to locate a spot they could build. No confirmation yet.

It was also announced that a Jazz in the Park would be held this Father’s Day. It’s a very new type of event for my county, but something long overdue. I hope I can make it.
Well, every single client/boss I have contacted me within hours of each other yesterday, so I’ve got some major ass hauling to do. I’ve officially been up at 7am for a week straight without an alarm. I’m getting a lot done at least. I have Tues & Wed deadlines, and I’m going to a concert Sun & Tues nights, so it should be an interesting week. I shall be posting reviews of the shows.
