What’s Around the Bend

I’ve been hard at work all weekend prepping my new blog. Porting over the posts has required some post-by-post tinkering so it’s taking longer than I’d hoped, but once it’s ready it will deliver on some much needed upgrades: a decent search, prev/next nav, and a sensible archive. I haven’t quite decided on a design direction. I won’t be posting much until the new system is ready.
But just to recap my week:
- I’m the proud owner of new Nike shoes for the first time in my life.
- Last weekend I spent 4 hours on the phone: 1 with Amy & Adam, 2 with just Amy, and 1 with my sis. We were all long overdue on chatting.
- Coincidentally, my walk to the bus timed up with a Nike account guy pulling out of his garage, literally 2 feet ahead of me, so I got a ride to work.
- The next day an older lady struck up conversation with me about the weather in the middle of which she literally exclaimed “Oh! You have beautiful blue eyes!” As I tried to explain they’re not blue…it was just my shirt…the bus pulled up and she said goodbye and went on her way.
- Friday I happened to be standing next to a Mini that some folks were admiring. They finally asked if it was mine, likely because I kept looking at them…wanting them to ask me about it. (success) I totally gave my sales pitch. I’d be getting commission if I could get them to buy from Indy.
- Got stellar NIN tix for May!
I had to write some of the post by checking my Twitter feed. That’s pretty sad.
I got back in the groove this weekend, though. There are certain conditions for productive web work: active IM, good tunes, a workspace that keeps everything (mostly water) in reach, and a project that you actually plan to finish. I haven’t signed on to AIM for an entire weekend in ages. It was a little weird, but I worked a good 24 hours so something worked.
So far, I’ve gone through 200/770 posts. I’ve skimmed all of them and read several. It’s weird watching my life play out in reverse. I’m anxious to get back to the very beginning. I may get more out of this experience than just a blog update.
