oh my, so i had another extraordinary evening with Andrew Bird at the Music Mill. over half his set was composed of new songs from the upcoming album (releasing march-ish). he still seemed like he was from another era, universe, or what have you. it was *just* as fascinating as the first show, except this time i was standing 2 feet away from him. martin dosh was on deck for the entire show. mr. bird put lyrics to one of his tracks and it was awesome. i’m so, so excited about the new album. i’m more excited that mr. bird says they’ll be venturing to bloomington in april, which means i will not be taking a vacation that month so as not to miss it.
bobby bare, jr. opened and they put on a great show. i loved all the songs with banjo & mandolin, mainly because i was pretty sure i fell in love with the player. i tried talking to him after the show but there had been a dramatic switch from the confidence i felt during the show when i had decided to march up and hand him my number. how it actually played out went more like amy & alex coaxing me over and awkward me saying, “i love the banjo and i get really excited when people play banjo” *cue air banjo* no, seriously i did it. johnny slack, if you’re reading this, he reminded me so much of you but not so god-like that he seemed unattainable :) i’ll admit when i spoke to him, the Nashville accent put me off a bit but who knows. sadly, the big dream that had built up throughout the course of the evening was very much crushed by my lack of courage.
See the Photos - They’re all uncropped & unaltered and I must say, this is my best concert work to date. This $100 lens has changed my life. They look so much cooler full screen. These are crying to be printed.
