I headed out of work a little early yesterday, and traveled down to IUPUI where I met up with Mitch and his friends, Loren & Heather, for an evening of USA Track & Field National Championships action.
The weather was beautiful. We watched a javelin thrower set a new American record, complete with an Amazon woman yell and saw Gatlin cream the competition in the 100m. We were all newbies to a track & field event, so it was pretty exciting and also very distracting. There were just too many things going on at the same time. I never knew where to look!
It was a lovely afternoon, though. I had such a great time! It’s nice having clients that sponsor cool events and give us free tickets :)
We cut out a bit early, all of us agreeing we didn’t have the attention span for 2 10K races back to back. We headed down to Mass Ave where their friend, Rick, was part of an improv group called Fun Dumpster at Comedy Sportz. We joined up with Alex, Amy, and her lil sis, Shelly at Scholars Inn for some drinks prior.
Despite only having 3 guys, the show was pretty damn hilarious. We were all wildly impressed. We were all a bunch of giggling fools. It was my first night drinking more than 2 sips of a beer, and I’m pretty sure it’s the cause of my headache at this moment.
After the show we ventured down to another pub, which I can never remember what it’s called. Loren & Heather had to cut out, but we joined up with the improv group and it was good times. I got my dreams of being a stand-up comedian crushed and called our waiter mam. Really, I should not be allowed to drink after 11pm.
It was a really nice day, and I got to follow it up by a morning of sitting in the BMV, finally getting a new plate for my car. Ah well, my mom’s coming up tomorrow for her first visit. We’ll see how that goes. My dad’s a chump and isn’t coming along. I think I have some fun things planned. *shrug*
