Well, you may have noticed my blog keeps breaking. Sure I could have a fancy “catch” when it errors out but it’s my hosting that keeps causing the issue. No idea what causes it but it goes away after a day and 4 emails to tech support.
Anyway, I hosted open mic night this Tuesday. It was my first night not preparing a set. I just went in with some jokes in mind that I might want to try to fit in. It wasn’t great, but it went way better than my first time. Plus, Crackers was absolutely packed. It was crazy. I’d only seen it like that for big names coming through. Pretty cool, but despite the size, it was a quiet crowd. Still I was happy with what I got from them. My crowd work went well and I got decent reactions to my jokes. It was sooo much more fun just being able to wing it up there and not be freaking out about memorizing the perfect wording of my jokes. Sure, I think that memorization added a nice flow to my set, but I think it’s important I get better at thinking on my feet.
So, I was feeling uneasy about doing comedy after last week, but now I feel back on track. I just started to take it too seriously and lost sight of why I was doing it…fun.
Well, this evening I tried to coordinate a movie night. It never fails that anything I try to plan falls apart but the non-planning people always pull together miracles and I imagine with significantly less associated anxiety :) Jerks. It was nice watching Gilmore Girls on the big screen by myself for awhile. They were having movie night on their episode, so it was extra appropriate. Daughter Gilmore was trying to date…it was completely relate able. I’m also not a dater. I’ve always just happened on to relationships. Pssh. In my limited experiences, I’ve decided dating is ridiculous, but I think I’ve ranted about that plenty over time so I’m gonna avoid that.
Anyway, the Katies & Mitch showed up for movie night. We enjoyed some Roman Holiday action. Audrey Hepburn is a darling. I wonder what it’s like to be that cute. Another Cary Grant movie arrived today, so I’m pretty pumped about that. Though, I fear I’m running out of movies to watch that he stars in. That will be a sad day.
Woo. So yeah, I actually got invited to join in some comedian fun this Friday. I’m not completely stoked about it…mainly b/c the headliner this week…well, based on what I’ve seen, I’m not all that amused by him. It’ll be nice to hang out with the other chaps after the show though. Sadly, this means I have to post-pone my Indy Comedy Sportz plans for another week. I was really hoping for a return to the Rathskellar, since it’s my new favorite place to chill.
Okay, I’m rambling. I’m out.
