Not that I had doubts, but Governor Davis & The Blues Ambassadors rocked last night. I believe I created 2 new hardcore fans. By the end of the second song, I was getting a set of thumbs up from my compadres. It was actually a fantastic night overall. I’ll spare full details but these posts are for me so I have to put enough that I can remember the highlights :)
So Evan & Blaine joined me at Knickerbocker for the show. Let me tell you. These guys are a trip. It was like being at a Monday project meeting with alcohol and even less talk of work. haha. Of course I nursed my one drink while the guys tried to travel around the world through beer. An older couple sat next to us and bought us all a round, so we talked with them most of the night. They were total hippies back in the day and gave us some background on the guvna. Apparently, the lady’s nephew graduated from CGT last year. Small world. I think the lady totally misunderstood me when I was telling her about our project. She said, “oh, so it’s like hospitals & GPS” or something. It didn’t matter, so I said, “sure”. It was too loud to hear. haha we kept asking each other what she had said but we’d always shrug and nod at her anyway.
Blaine & Evan talked me into going to campus bars after that. It’s funny. I remember posting that I’d probably never go to a college bar until I was out of college, since my social development is almost always 6 months behind everyone else’s hehe. I can’t skip the part on the way to the bars, though. We parked in the garage and it was decided that we’d climb the 5 ft cement wall to get out. Okay, so I quickly realized I had no upper body strength, so I ran down to the shorter wall, which I, of course, caught shit about. Blaine decided it was a good time to scream. Stupid me, I remarked how I could scream at an octave above what the human ear can detect, so of course I was expected to demonstrate. I was so proud of myself, my voice cracked (too many days around Johnny) and I think I made it a step up from my usual max. They appeared impressed or temporarily deaf. The random group of guys walking by confirmed it was quite remarkable. haha I’m such a loser.
Well, the bars were an experience. That’s for sure. I had a guy try to attack me with his hips, an empty beer bottle fall on me, and Evan said there were people having sex but I closed my eyes like a good kid, so I can’t verify. Ok, that last part was a joke, just so we’re clear. Blaine & Evan were successful in creating a dance circle. (No easy feat I’m told.) Evan was like an Amish robot with a touch of tin man. That’s the only way to describe it. Amusing, as you can imagine. They were both pretty good. I think if I’d had some Zoloft, I might have joined them. Stupid social anxiety and years of mom & Jenna mocking my mad dance skills have taken their toll on me. (yeah, Jenna, I’m not the only person who gives people complexes about things. Jerk.) Oh and there’s also the reason that I’m a complete klutz, and I don’t have time for broken limbs. Yikes, and a big butch/bitch girl shoved Evan. Seriously, I’ve never been stuck in an enclosed space with so many bitches in my life. If there’s not a scientific name for “fear of being enclosed in small space with dumb hoochie bitches,” there should be. *shudder*
Well, that’s a longer version than I planned and I know I forgot stuff. Ok but in a nutshell, I had an awesome night. It was unbelievable (Blaine said this word 20,000 times last night. I counted). It’d be cool to make this a weekly thing, a night out with the guys and live blues every Friday. I’m not sure if it’s legal for me to host a poker night at my house. That might be a boys-only club. That and I have no clue how to play. I’m pretty sure the college bars/dance/bitchy girls/desperate guys scene just isn’t for me. As my man Jim would say, “prefer a feast of friends to the giant family.”
I’m hoping to see the Governor again tonight. Although I know I have too much work and I shouldn’t…but we got to drag Slack’s ass there to see it. Blaine & Evan tried already. *shrug* helluva good time and I’m just so excited, I can’t stop talking about it. hehe and what a funny coincidence on the song that started playing. Oh, Blaine boy’s a musician too. I think I should be their manager. That would rock. Maybe I can see them jam together sometime.
