I finally found someone to go with me to the Aqualung show last night at The Patio (great venue but lacks tables) in Broad Ripple. It was an interesting drive. You really don’t get a second chance for a missed exit on 465.

The entire night was so intimate, just like great musicians hanging out with some people. I don’t think there were even 50 people there. He mentioned, “this is our first time in Indy, and the first time I’ve ever been asked to sign a titty before playing any music.” haha such a classy guy. I was convinced he’s related to Dunstan. His brother was the guitarist (who I could swear is Hennis’ twin), and another guy, David Price or something, was percussion & violin. They had some very strange percussion instruments, which brought attention to subtle sounds I never noticed listening to the albums. The bassist was held in UK for “legal issues”, so the singer had to play piano and keyboard bass on top of his piano, “Ray Manzarek style,” as he noted. I enjoyed the Doors reference.

I realized last night that their music has a real jazz feel to it. It was so lovely. They did some great jamming, and the lead guy was very entertaining. So much talent for $8.

We were a bit late but there was a surprise opening act, which turned out to be the Cary Brothers. I’d only heard their track, Blue Eyes, from Garden State prior, but the whole set was fantastic. It was clear which brother was the talker of the family heh.

It was a great night overall. I’m glad I was able to make it. I got to see the infamous Broad Ripple McDonald’s with leather couches & a grand piano. That was weird.

I’m exhausted from all the concerts, but I seriously can’t seem to get enough. And I did manage to make all my deadlines. I had good motivation. I may try to catch Old 97’s next week.

On a completely unrelated note, my mom met a lady from the paper I’ve been writing articles for. She informed my mom that the editor is in love with my writing & photos and wants me to cover EVERY interview. Apparently, my second article also made front page. Just too many things I want to do…
