The tsunami aid concert was quite amazing. Nearly every set was acoustic or just piano. Eric Clapton & Roger Waters with “Wish You Were Here” and Norah Jones with just guitar and violin. Sarah McLachlan can still get me with “Angel” after all these years. I immediately think of the movie, City of Angels.

They were showing the before/after satellite images. 170,000 people dead, about 1/3 of the area’s population. It’s just unbelievable. If only our military existed purely for situations such as this one, those caused completely by nature and not some other human being devastating the life of another. I think that’s my dream of an ideal world, the day our soldiers carry supplies and hope, not ammunition.

These people have all lost everything. So many children are now orphans—no parents, siblings, or relatives remain. It’s doubtful if there’s so much as a family photo. I made my donation tonight.
