Saturday night I ventured down to Gestalt Haus in Mission for Cerra’s birthday. The evening got off to a late start, but I had a nice time hanging with Mayo & her roommate, Seiko. It was a fun time hanging with some new people at the bar, and Cerra recommended a beer that I didn’t find horrible. It was a cool bar, but I was immediately outed as a non-biker when I got there earlier. Soon, we took the party back to Cerra’s apartment. Somehow, she & the guys had made friends with a Super Shuttle driver earlier in the night and he offered his services for later. He arrived and 18 of us piled in to the van. It was the highlight of the evening for me. It was hilarious! The party at the apartment went late in to the evening. I was out way toooo late.

This morning I literally drug myself out of bed. I had 0 desire to go to Treasure Island. Sleep was all I could think about. Luckily, I hate wasting money, so I had to put the ticket to use. It all turned out though.
The shuttle service over bay bridge was amazing. There was literally no wait time for either trip, and it was a luxurious Bauer’s limo, a refreshing change from squeezing in to buses at outside lands. And it provided beautiful views of the island and city on both trips. I snapped some photos on the way home. They weren’t great since I was in a moving vehicle, but still pretty.
It was a beautiful day. The sun felt great and it was cool seeing bay bridge in the backdrop of one of the stages. Oh yeah, and we were on an island so we were surrounded by water & palms. It was a really nice day.

Started off with Tokyo Police Club, some entertaining Canadian chaps. Though they’d been recommended, it was my first real time hearing them. They were enjoyable, but I didn’t find instant love. I watched maybe 2 songs of The Morning Benders, before heading back over to grab a spot for Okkervil River. They were fantastic. They only played a few songs that I knew, The Latest Toughs is the one I remember. I didn’t get to hear any of the songs I really liked, but another time perhaps.
I wasn’t able to score a great spot for Fleet Foxes, but I still loved them just as much. They talked for at least 10 minutes of their set. It was fantastic. I love their music, but I can listen to that without them around. “Can somebody turn down the wind?” I love them. Guys - if you ever read this post, call me, we’ll hang out, share some laughs, and make fun of people. It will be good times. Even if I stop liking their music, I’ll keep going to their shows. I seriously love them. Oh, and once a few people left and I got closer to the front, I looked over and saw Jack White and another Raconteur enjoying the show as well. The lady beside me kept leaning over and sighing. She was completely overwhelmed by his presence. It was amusing. I didn’t recognize him at first. I just saw really pale skin, dark glasses & dark hair out of the corner of my eye and my first thought was “Whoa, Michael Jackson is here!!” Once I actually looked, I realized it was White. A group of girls squealed when they finally noticed him after he walked behind the stage. Hilarious. I can’t even get over how pale he was. The ladies beside me insisted it must be make-up.

I listened to Spiritualized from a distance. A lot of the songs sounded familiar, but I really don’t think I’ve ever heard of them. I stayed through about half of The Dodos. I left right after they played the song that I filmed the last time I saw them. It is definitely one of my favorites. I had to leave early though because I was most looking forward to seeing Vampire Weekend. As feared, so were several others. I scored a great spot right up front, only a little off to the side. I couldn’t complain. I think every person there was singing along to every single song, except for the 1 new song they played. It was incredible hearing everyone yell “Blake’s got a new face!” Great times. So entertaining and the lead singer is just adorable. I hope some girl was smart enough to snatch him up when he was a humble schoolteacher.
I was really tired after rocking out for their set, though, so I didn’t stay for all of Dr. Dog. I rationalized it because I’d already seen them open for The Black Keys back in Indy. I definitely loved them, but I was beat. I took in the scenes of the island for awhile and decided it was time to get home. No doubt, I could have used the sleep today, but being out in the sunshine and catching some good music made for a nice Sunday afternoon. Pretty sure it was better than lounging around being lazy. But on that note, I need to rest up. Big week of Fall season premieres this week. Yay!
