I had a grand adventure yesterday, and I just must blog about it.
I had a field trip to Charleston, IL yesterday for a comedy show featuring a bunch of cool people from Indy. I carpooled with one of the comedians, Jeff Oskay, so we had some major bonding time over the course of the 250-mile roundtrip. Amazing what you can learn about a person after that much time in a car together. We even survived thinking we were lost on both ends of the trip.
Well, after weaving through rural Illinois and wondering if we had landed in some strange time warp that was going to take us by our childhood homes, we finally arrived at Dan’s house. We didn’t realize we gained an hour on the trip so we had plenty of time to kill.
It was totally cool though. Chillin’ in the garage with some PBR, listening to everything from the Clash to Neil Young. There were some incredible stories shared. Seriously, can you have more fun than drinking with 5 comedians?
Matt Holt, Kevin Ruble, and Phil Kijak were all also part of the show.
It was a solid show. Everyone killed. Matt handled one of the most obnoxious drunk women I have ever encountered, serving up the line of the night. The woman screamed “crotchless panties” out of nowhere, and his reply was “well, i bet they weren’t crotchless when you bought them”. I nearly died. It was awesome.
Phil got approached by this guy in the crowd about potentially opening a show for Alkaline Trio. How fricken cool is that? Apparently, comedians opening for bands is making a comeback, which means I can be a comic & a band photographer. Sweet.
But yeah, so much damn fun. Really glad I worked up the courage to ask to come along.
Completely unrelated but I made a graduation video for my little sister. The ending is abrupt but it has some quality stuff, regardless.
