You know what’s fun? Talking to the vet on the phone, having the portable phone battery dying, pasta boiling over, and trying to explain to the woman that her idea sucks. I’d already gotten an appointment for Wed, but this pseudo-vet calls me about bringing in Snippy in the morning and just leaving her there for when they get time. I was like “No, I’m not just going to leave her there all day.” So she explains they’d have her in a cage, and she’d be fine. Ugh, I very simply explained that my dog is anti-cages, as in she goes crazy and beats herself up trying to get out. I think she just doesn’t like closed spaces. So this genius suggests a mild sedative. And I’m like “no, the vet said with her heart condition a sedative could kill her (dumb bitch)” I told her that I live 5 min away so surely if they could squeeze her in tomorrow, they could call and I could be there.

Seriously, as if I’d leave her there all day and possibly overnight with the chance they’d have time to see her. That alone would kill her. Poor thing nearly gives herself a heart attack jumping on me after I’ve only been gone a few hours. Anyway, the receptionist that I spoke to earlier gave me one of those discouraging “ooohs” when I told her of Snippy’s symptoms. I’m not sure there’s much I’ll be able to do for her except medications to help her feel better, which may end up being over $100/month. I’m going to have to keep working, especially with the gas bill rising exponentially…seriously, $60 -> $168 -> $292.

On a lighter note, my cheddar meat loves loaves and homemade mac & cheese are smelling good. I’m really enjoying Arcade Fire as well. Snippy was barking at me while I cooked, and she kept nervously glancing over her shoulder when I’d bark back. hehe it was so cute. I love talking to her and saying, “Come on, Snippy, what’s your problem?? Are you going to tell me about it??” She starts slipping on the tile and wagging her tail and finally lets out a howl. Her bark sounds so foreign but it amuses me. She tries to be a hound dog. She’s so wonderful.
