For the first time in awhile, yesterday I was actually able to get up close-ish to my 5:30 target time and not fall back asleep on the couch after breakfast. I even went for a short run. Short because I’m way out of shape…again.

Without fail, one disaster after another awaited me at work. Mitch was working from home most the day, so I served as his little RSS. We had another CD start on Monday, and she’s sort of naturally paired up with our exec CD, David. Now, he’s been pretty stress-faced of late but yesterday, he was lots of smiles. In fact, Jennifer set him straight about having a positive attitude. It was a series of hallmark moments all afternoon. Mitch pointed out they were becoming just like us. I agreed completely, saying “yep, the mental one & the patient one” haha and he was like “wait a fucking minute! which one am i???” :)

It’s nice having a partner in crime. Pres Dave said he’s gonna have to separate us, mainly because in confrontations, we’re like our own humorous army of 2. But yes, we had some serious chats yesterday about work, mainly spurred from the serious 2 hour convo we’d had with Dave the night before. I must admit it was nice to finally have someone on the other end making me promise to stay or at least find him a job if I moved elsewhere.

He came to the office just in time for possibly one of the funniest IMs ever. I’m giving Amy a status update and out of the blue, I get:

“since you don’t touch people i guess you can’t help pop my back”

I had Mitch roll over for a read, and we both were literally cracking up. Thus, later in the day “since you don’t touch people” was tacked on to various statements & requests. Quality.

Had a nice talk with Mitch & Jennifer later in the day. She’s pretty funny! We were talking about random things guys unconsciously do—like jump up to hit any random thing they walk near. I’m not 100% sure what got us on the topic, but I believe it was spurred by me telling Mitch he was trying to get a bad boy image, followed by telling him he eats cherries like a girl. I really like that we have that open line of insulting communication. We just all give him a hard time because he’s such a whimsical creative person, so the big joke is trying to keep him on task.

It turned out to be a nice lil day. I’m hoping that will carry over to today. It’s not so bad being downstairs at work now, but I think Mitch & I are better when he’s at home. I’m sure we’ll have a little divider wall between us any day now :) even if it is a refrigerator box.

Anyway, big plans for the weekend so look forward to updates on that.
