I swear the deja vu continues. It’s like I hit a clone button on a day back in May. I took my sweet time getting ready for the day but still managed to get to the sauce a little early, leaving time to walk around and see all the people I didn’t recognize.

DC drove the Katie’s and I to Dooley O’Toole’s, a pub style place in Carmel, which I’d driven by a million times but never stopped in. It was really awesome. Nice callback to old times. I will say that talking to DC is definitely what I miss most from the sauce. It was always pretty unproductive, but always amusing. He’s one of the funniest people I know. Sadly, it’s probably not appropriate for me to quote out some of his stories here. Oh my gosh, I laughed so much. I wish I’d written down his exact wording, but this line was floored me.

“It [classic Cadillac] doesn’t have a gas gauge so I have to get in, shake my hips a little bit and listen for it.”

It was a great time. Funny memory words: rooster & hens, “wow, these fries”, fried medley.

I was due to hang out with Adam, Gary, & Lily after lunch, but they were tied up buying a car so I ran a few errands. This note is only interesting because the checkout guy I had at Walgreen’s was straight out of a movie. I walked up and he literally crooned, “How you doin’?” I thought he was trying to be funny but the rest of our exchange continued in the same style of speaking. I cannot even recreate it in written words, but it took my everything not to laugh in his face.\

So Adam said I could let myself in but all the doors were locked. So there I was, Starbucks in hand, meandering around to their backyard, walking past their neighbor who was out in the yard. I thought if I said “hi” she was less likely to call the cops. Meanwhile, I could hear Lily inside barking herself in to a frenzy. I managed to get in, hesitating as I opened the door when I saw Lily’s teeth and razorback hair poised to attack me. She chilled out as soon as she smelled my leg. We played fetch for awhile and hung out until Adam & Gary got home.

We took their new car to run errands down at the Apple store. I managed to make friends with 2 other shoppers. They were case shopping for their iphone and I broke mine out and made recommendations. Another girl, overheard me and walked over to support my suggestions. I couldn’t help but smile at how the Apple store makes me feel like a better, more-fulfilled human.

Adam and I headed south to Birdy’s for Tyler’s show. I was really excited. They had a bunch of new songs that I’d only gotten to see on some crap FB videos. It was fantastic! “Sound of Waves” is definitely becoming a favorite. It was so great to get to catch a show and see everyone. I hadn’t seen the entire band so energetic in a long time and there was a great turnout. Sadly, no one would stand by the stage with me except for the lone burlesque girl in fishnets. Katie, Mitch, and Adam eventually joined me near the end.

We stayed through the next band, which didn’t wrap up til nearly 1am. Tyler apparently doesn’t eat before shows so we were up til 2 as he consumed his chip & fruit medley (*shrug*), while also telling me how I was fucking up my life and I suggested he was near fatness. We have an honest friendship like that.

In classic Mitch style, he asked me at the show if I’d want to meet up before I left town in the morning. We met up at Broad Ripple Bagels at 9:30am. It felt as if I hadn’t slept at all, but I got there a bit early and the owners became my instant best friends. It was my first time there and as soon as they realized this fact, they shoved a bowl of gravy in front of me so I could sample the biscuits & gravy special. I sort of had to order it after that. No worries. It is a favorite. I paired it with some hot green tea. The biscuits were pretty well demolished by the time Mitch arrived. We sat and talked for 3 hours. We were both exhausted from the show the night before, but we endured. And so just like back in May, I went to Tyler’s show, got up early the next morning, and drove to Broad Ripple before rushing back to Crawfordsville.

My sister drove back again so we could hang out a bit longer, so we got pizza tonight and spent a good part of the evening in the kitchen with our laptops out before watching the completely depressing Colts game. Watching it reminded me why I never watch sports with my parents. I’m all for some ref disagreement here and there but every single play…it’s enough to make you start siding with the ref, no matter how wrong they actually are. But alas, it is after midnight and I have been fighting sleep since the moment I got up this morning, so I’m gonna call this Indiana talk a wrap. I shall be spending most of tomorrow trying to pack all my new clothes in my bag before we all head to Indy for dinner and drive by airport drop-off. Please cross your fingers that my 45-minute connection time in Denver gives me time to make my flight or I’m stuck there for the night. I checked my work email for the first time tonight and it seems fairly important that I get back on time :)

But yeah, am I sad to leave or glad to head back? Both.
