The Day that Managed to Turn Out Alright

I have days when I feel everything falls in to place like it was meant to be, but then I also have days where I feel I’m being sabotaged at every corner. Unfortunately, today started out as the latter. I was gonna take photos of a mural being painted downtown for Roster, but I got a call this morning saying it was canceled. Bummer.
I was scheduled to shoot a family reunion later in the afternoon, and I was feeling pretty good about the weather until the moment I got on to 465. Right then it was as if I drove in to a gigantic wall of water. I could not see more than 5 feet in front of me, even less when the people (idiots) didn’t have their lights on. I must say driving blind, watching for the slightest twinkle of a taillight in front of you to guide by, is one of the worst feelings in the world. I continued to miss 2 turns due to the rain and misplacing my directions, but I finally made it to my destination.
I kept thinking how someone did not want me in Indy this day. The reunion shoot went well, luckily. I was a nervous wreck and could feel myself shaking. How the photos were not blurry, I’ll never know. I also had a fantastic meal with the family.
So the game plan after that was to go a 1/2 mile down the road to The Black Keys concert at The Music Mill. I arrived just as the doors opened and snatched a table. The clock ticked by. I called everyone I knew. The peeps that were supposed to meet me had dropped off the face of the earth. I even resorted to going to the car and breaking out the wireless to IM people. No luck. I was completely stood up. Saving the table for the hour was a bitch, too. Lucky me though, the bitch brigade arrived and asked if they could sit there until my people arrived. I had to have had “help me” stamped on my face during that ordeal. Oh, that coupled with the fat-squeezing wardrobe choices and PDA couple that were in between my seat and the stage.
Realizing I was gonna be solo, I went out to get my camera and played with it. They announced the openers would not appear tonight…a half hour after they were supposed to go on, and so I waited for 2 hours to see the show. I just played with test shots since flashes were illegal.
I didn’t get many great photos. The guys were moving way too fast for the slow shutter speed I had to use, but I pulled some off. The show was fantastic! They rocked the joint. There was no one sitting down. We were all up rockin’ to the beat. They put off some major sound for 2 small white boys. It was definitely worth all the trials along the way.
I had an AIM attack when I got home. I cannot handle 4 intense chats at a time, especially when 2 were work-related. I had some lovely chats though. Two were with no-shows for the black keys. I found out there was a chain of ditching. It was my first time chatting with one co-worker. It relieved any paranoia that had built up today, and I also think I may have met my speed typing match. hah.
It’s way past my bedtime. Wish me motivation for the morning :)
