To start, I finally followed through on that promise of no posts for awhile. My weekends, bus rides, and lunch hours have been dedicated to working on the new blog. I’ve made great progress, and I’m tentatively saying it will be up by June 1. That’s my goal.

Thursday, I finally came through on my promise to go watch the guys play soccer. It was pretty cute how excited they were to have a spectator. I really enjoyed the game. It was my first soccer experience (sad, eh?). They did very well but the gamed ended on a 2-2 tie.

I broke out on to the field the 2nd half to take some photos. It was a little nerve-wracking since I had exactly 2’ between the edge of the field and the fence. Therefore, I decided it was safest if I always tracked the ball with my camera so I’d know when death was approaching. It was also freezing because the field lives out on a pier. My hands were literally shaking, so it was amazing I got any decent photos.

After the game, I was talked in to joining them down the road at a waterside bar called Pier 23. It was such a random group of people: Antonio, TJ, Nelson, Akira, Rei, and some guy, Ian, and his friend. He was the keeper for the night. It was nice that I wasn’t the only one drinking soda. However, by the time the night was over, TJ had broken my nearly 4-month no-alcohol streak. He brought tequila shots back for Antonio & me. I’d never ever had a tequila shot, so I wasn’t overly excited about it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by it. I have no idea what kind it was but he promised it was “good stuff”.

It was a really fun night, but naturally, I was out way past my bedtime on a school night. I walked the guys down to Market before bus-hopping my way back north. I swear I take the longest, most complicated trips home when it gets late. I just get dumb.

Quotes of the Night:

An: “He stabbed us with lollipop sticks”

Ak: “It flew out. Fifth element style.”
