So I’ll admit I’m procrastinating some work, but I’m overdue for a new post anyway.

Monthly birthday pitch-in was today with a breakfast theme. My cinnamon rolls were a success. I tried to bribe a potential hire with one. Not sure if it worked yet.

I’m forming some pretty tight connections at work. I’ve established an extremely high comfort level. I’m pretty much to the point where I can be as honest with most people at work as I can with my family. We’ll see how long before that gets me in trouble :)

Yesterday got cut short by a last minute photo shoot/video capture. Mitch broke from his vacation a half day early to help. We were at the place for just over 4 hours. It actually turned out to be a pretty nice time. Heard a lot of good stories at the event. We ended up heading to Chili’s afterward for a well-deserved drink & some spectacular chips & salsa. The drink was ineffective with all the chips, of course.

It was a fantastic time. Talked a lot about work, with random interludes mixed in. It was nice to just sit & talk and laugh. Learned that his small hometown was one of the first to get DSL because his grandpa was one of those guys that wrote a letter to the editor every week. Of course, Mitch caught a lot of hell at school about it as a kid, because they were always super conservative letters. I told him my family was more the type that sat around at home and bitched about the people that always wrote letters to the editor :) Mitch is one of those people that could take 8 hours of your day without you even realizing it. It’s a rare occasion for him to have time to talk one-on-one like that though.

Our bike ride on the Monon got canceled since everyone else bailed on us. April plans have just not been fairing well for me. Got a show next Wednesday that I refuse to miss though.

So, today Mel was like “Mindy, I’ve never seen you so hyper.” I didn’t realize I was hyper but I had noticed I was being extra sociable. What triggered her view was me randomly sharing a college story with her as she sort of hustled by my desk and I said “ruuuunnnn”. So I shared my story that I once yelled that at a guy running past me on campus trying to catch a bus. The guy reached his hand around his backpack & flipped me off. Officially, the only time a perfect stranger has given me the bird. :)

A hilarious story from today, though…so Adam & I had been trying to determine if the new guy at work was good lookin’. We totally share a sporadic brainwave pattern. I’d told him I was really on the fence about it, but we decided we needed to find out if he were single. Well, the guy is friends with another guy at work, so when Adam saw that guy, he hopped on the opportunity and wrote out the question on a lil sticky note and held it up. The guy was like “yeah, he has a girlfriend…” and then he gave Adam a funny look, so Adam was like “no, no not for me!” so the guy immediately points to my desk and says “oh, for that kid?” Adam was like “nooo”! haha how presumptuous :) But that’s what happens when you’re the single girl in the office. So much for discretion.

But anyway, I got pulled in to another brainstorming session for a tagline today (rocking my world). Hung out in the new downstairs space that just opened up with Mike, Mitch, and Hup. We’re officially awesome at coming up with the most “wrong” phrases ever. This client is a particularly awesome opportunity for us, though. It’s a restaurant so we’re doing logo, tagline, delivery packaging, napkins, etc. The whole she-bang. Luckily, they are looking for something “go early ugly”-esque, so we’re all very much in our element in being able to find phrases that can be taken the wrong way. We were really exploring the sexual connotation route, and my victory line for the day was “Disease free.” I scored some hearty laughter from the boys. It was a good time and I think we got some good thoughts down. However, I was gonna hit Mike if he said “I’m sorry, Mindy” one more time after saying something “offensive.”

So anyway, I’ll give more details about that once we have something accepted by the client :) My production work is coming closer to wrapping up so there’s a light. It’s been a damn busy few weeks, but I still like my job, so I guess that’s good :)

And unrelated, my sis & i got ourselves some NIN tickets for July. No backing out now haha. It’ll be an experience but that’s what life’s all about.

My big decision for the weekend is whether to go to Louisville for fireworks or stay here and join in a stranger’s bachelorette outing. The appeal of the latter is not having to find someone to take care of snippy AND the off-chance that I might meet new people around Indy.
