Well, it’s been another wonderful week in my life. I missed graduating with highest distinction by .01, which was a little irritating. But I reacquainted with some old friends the last couple days. It was a nice little reunion.

I finally saw Kill Bill vol. 1, which to be honest was not all that impressive. Even the action wasn’t completely riveting. There was no depth whatsoever to the plot. It could not have gotten any simpler. The highlight of the movie was the short animation in the middle. So yes, I fear that critics saw Tarantino on the movie, and just assumed it was another complex, wonderful movie. I was extremely disappointed after all the hype. I have no desire to see it again, and although, the first one leaves you completely hanging, I feel no desire to have the matter resolved by watching vol. 2.

I also saw Runaway Jury, which was far better, even though I sort of solved the movie early in. What can i say? It’s a curse. Yeah, and John Kerry somehow made it into my dream. Weird.

I had a really great time being in my hometown. I spent all of yesterday afternoon lounging in 2 foot tall grass staring at the sky. I saw an animal in one of the trees, which initially, I was convinced was a koala. Once it finally moved a bit, i realized it wasn’t. Too bad. That would have been quite a discovery. I finally decided it was a groundhog, which I later confirmed with an encyclopedia. He stayed in the same spot the whole time I was there. Ha I told him if he needed to use the facilities he could totally come down. I mean it was like 2 hours. So yes, that was extremely relaxing. After that adventure, I went to the farm and just leaned on the fence, watching a heifer with her newborn twins. They were adorable. One was black and the other tan. One boy, one girl. I tried the blinking eyes trick with the mother, and soon she started talking. It appeared she was beckoning the calves over by her, which was awesome because it brought them closer to me. I think the eye-talk worked, because she completely trusted me. I also visited the 4-H pigs who were overly friendly, and I was not dressed appropriately.

In all, it was a VERY eventful 2.5 days, some parts better than others. I’ll be glad when all the bruises on my arms heal from the bad part. Now it’s time to begin again.
