hehe I use deceptive tactics in my headline to make ppl think this would be a short post…umm yeah. Anyway, I finally have some time to write about my Chicago trip this past Wednesday. I’m gonna give every little detail…more so for my own use.
Well, we left WL about 3:45. Radiohead was our main listening on the trip there…can’t go wrong with that.
(2 hour break to bake cookies and post continues)
As we approached Chicago’s city limits, my friend and I both realized we were in dire need of a bathroom. About this time, we realize we are experiencing Chicago rush hour or close to it…bumper to bumper…3 lanes wide. After struggling through the time, we flew into the first avail restroom. It was the first time I truly appreciated a semi-nasty public restroom.
So we got parking and then walked in search of food. We decided on Wrigley Field hot dog place…right next to the stadium. I went for a gyro…best gyro I’ve ever had btw…this man comes up and asks us if we smoke (clearly seeking to bum a cigarette). We were of no help of course. Well, my gyro was overstuffed so i had extra meat, so the same guy asks if I’m gonna finish that and takes my tray. So I think I fed the homeless.
We headed across the street to this bar, Trace. Very classy place…dim lighting, nice bar and cozy elevated booths and it was completely empty. There was the lone bartender reading at the bar (who was cute and mysterious…as a plus). I didn’t think about walking in to a bar…when he asked what i wanted…I asked for more time…such a woman *sigh*. So i ended up with a Mike’s Hard Lemonade, but before that my friend forced me to try his beer, which made my face yield a more disturbing expression than usual. That was officially my first sip of alcohol. I’m so happy though…my ideal dream had been to go to a really classy and semi-empty bar in Chicago or NY for my first drink, and by some act of magic, I got that.
So after an hour at Trace, and my friend giving me a hard time about only having one bottle, we headed to the Metro for the concert. The concert…to be continued. I need sleep!
