Sexist Clothing Industry

It was pointed out to me that I haven’t posted all year. hehe oops. Who knew I even had an audience? ha!
Well, it certainly feels like a new year to me. I spent part of my Christmas break seeking to discover what it’s like to be a woman. There are several things necessary to do this.
- Have to care how you look…hair, clothes, skin, everything.
- Have to be willing to invest time into the above.
- Have to be willing to go broke to ensure number 1.
- Must be excited when shopping is mentioned, ecstatic when a sale is involved.
- It’s safe to leave your bed in the morning without make-up, but beyond that, one must have good reason to be sporting the ‘natural’ look.
- “Mindy, wallets are for men!!”
Clearly, it’s been a rough time adjusting to these new guidelines. I’ve gotten used to the whole purse thing. I just had to get one big enough that it could double as my backpack; it was the only way I could justify it. If purses were such a necessity, guys would carry them too. I did begin to encounter problems with the wallet fitting in female jeans though…so it goes. Even the clothing industry is telling me I have to use a purse. Have you checked your jeans’ pockets lately, ladies? I remember when I could get my whole hand in my pocket, now I’m lucky to get the second knuckle in. Men can fit pens, calculators, and anything else they might need. It’s an outrage! And do women get an inside pocket in coats to carry their cellphones? Hell no. The woman is forced to dig thru the bottomless purse of doom to get her calls.
Women can’t just travel without anything. It’s a constant balancing act trying to do anything. Try keeping a purse strap on your shoulder while balancing a tray and drink. it’s not so easy…especially if you suffer from a droopy shoulder! ahem. Men always have two hands free. Plus, of course, they never forget anything when they go out…they don’t take anything to forget! If you think I’m just jealous, you’d be correct.
Surely, some compromise can be reached to maintain the fitted, fashionable clothes that everyone loves to see women in with a little bit of storage space.
