I’m finally back in WL. I’m gonna split my experience in to a few posts. Check out Day 1 Gallery. No time for rotate happiness.
Direct flight from Indy - Seattle. Our flight was delayed an hour, as we had to wait on a connecting flight to arrive. I somehow lost my headphones in the terminal, leaving me somewhat panicky. The very cute gentlemen next to me (who arrived from the connection…worth the wait) picked up on my struggle and loaned me his set for the entire flight. When I gave them back to him, I told him he had no idea how much he had saved my sanity. He just laughed and said he knew sometimes you just need your tunes. So he finally talked to me as we were leaving the plane. He’s from Vancouver, BC (definitely think highly of the place now), and he said it was just as nice as Seattle but cheaper. We then had an awkward moment as I joined my mom and sis, so he said “peace” and left me. Just another moment I wished I’d had a business card.
ooh we also had a lovely view from the plane of all the mountains…Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Baker, and some other I’ve spaced the name. Pictured is Mt. Rainer from the plane.

After loading up in our brand new taurus rental, we headed north to the Kingston/Edmond ferry. Who knew this would turn out to be such an experience. When we finally saw the sign for the ferry, we freaked and tried to get over to the right lane. “hark, an open spot right next to us!” mom signals over and suddenly ppl start honking and yelling at us. a lady comes over and starts yelling, “You can’t cut!!!” we apologized and said we had no idea this was a line. They were sooo rude about it. So we turn around and found the end of the “line.” Ferries are not cool. Everyone just turned their car off and was walking around…that’s how slow the line moved. It was 4pm when we got in line, and we needed to be at the wedding rehearsal at 5:30pm. Well, 1 hr 45 min later we finally boarded the ferry. It was a pleasant lil 20 min ride, and I got lots of good pics, but I seriously never wanted to waste that many hours of my life ever again. Oh, and keep in mind, mom forgot our snacks on the plane and we hadn’t eaten anything but one lil cracker pack the entire day. Our family doesn’t do well w/o food heh.
Well, 6:30pm we finally arrived at Port Ludlow, a gorgeous lil place right on the water, where the rehearsal dinner was held. We had to change our clothes in the parking lot. By some twist of fate, the reverend had also been held up by the ferry earlier in the day, so they were just beginning the meal. phew. Our assigned table was with a friend of our cousin’s that he’d brought along with him one summer for the visit. That friend who was petrified of women was now married. My cuz’s other friends were 2 brothers. We talked to them the most throughout the weekend. They were both computer ppl. They were pretty damn funny, albeit a lil strange, but more stories with them at the reception.

We left and drove on up north to Port Townsend to our hotel, the Harbor Inn. It was a lovely lil place. I liked it from the moment we stepped in. The guy at the desk was singing along to classic rock, off-key and not caring. I knew I’d fit in just fine :) Wireless was only available in the lobby, so I got to hear a lot of this man’s singing. Of course, I had to do my nightly email check, even though I was exhausted and had been up over 17 hours at this point. Traveling is exhausting. I stayed up even longer b/c i had to reply to my brit. He’s been so wonderful with the long, daily emails…always a pleasant way to end the day.
oh, and that same evening I got an email from mr. creative. he forwarded me client feedback from the most recent piece we worked on (one i was really excited about) client quote:
I love this script! You’ve captured it…keep going!
I literally started dancing and clapping in the lobby. Then I ran to the pool and proclaimed my joy to everyone there.
Well, looking out our hotel was a view of the boats in the harbor, being lit by a full moon. Somehow I managed to get sidetracked before getting out to take photos of this each night.
And finally we crashed…3 dead white women
Oh quote of the day from rehearsal dinner:
Well, it was only my first wedding in Paris…
