I had an exciting week, which proved I have the energy level of a 65-year-old. I couldn’t even stay up past 10pm last night.

Jim & Andy were in town at the start of the week, shooting some video for a Sauce client. Their client happened to be having a conference at a hotel about a mile from my apartment and right on my bus route home, which worked out really well. Monday night we went to North Beach for dinner at Bocce Cafe, which was a really cool place. From there we went down to the Marriott to meet up with Ian, an ex-saucer who was in town for Max. We were having a great time until I felt like I was going to die. I’m not sure if I had a touch of food poisoning or what, but it was the first time I’ve gotten sick in a public place. Luckily, I couldn’t have asked for a cleaner bathroom. So that kind of sucked.

The next night I walked down and met them at their hotel’s restaurant. We were all exhausted, so finally, we hopped on the bus to my office for a late night tour. The evening view from the roof is actually quite nice. However, since it was so late, the bus only comes every 20 minutes, so we decided to play ping pong rather than stand out in the cold.

And from that, I made this silly little video. I mainly look for excuses to edit movies, regardless of how dumb they might turn out. Pretty nice selection of sound effects with iMovie, though. I’d never noticed those.

It was a really fun 2 nights. Those 2 guys are a hilarious duo. I had such a nice time. It made me more excited to go back at Christmas.

But reunion time wasn’t over. I noticed on Tuesday that a past Purdue prof was in town for Max as well, so he & his grad student ended up stopping by the office late Wednesday for the grand tour. From there, we had drinks at The View, which had the worst appetizer selection ever. I’ll just never be that fancy, but the evening view was pretty spectacular. We had dinner at Annabelle’s across the street, which was a little pricey and I missed the part where the salmon was just pan-seared. I just can’t seem to embrace smushy fish. So despite spending as much on one meal as I typically spend on a week of groceries, it was a nice time.

Kellen was sure to bring up the horrible reaming I gave him on my blog during a grant project we worked together on. At least he admitted I was pretty much on point haha. It brought back a lot of good times from those days. That project was such a pain in the ass, but we sure made the most of it. I tried to fill his grad students in on as many zingers as I could muster. My favorite story was the day Kellen told us his motorcycle fell over as he was making a turn and Johnny, in all seriousness, asked “Is it supposed to do that?” haha, I think they hired the 3 biggest smart-asses in the department for that project. And Kellen admitted that he’d considered the fact that he could probably break Johnny in half, but then I chimed in, “but he’d probably make you laugh too hard to be able to act on it”. “Exactly,” he said. Good times. It was nice kicking around some old stories, but a little sad to hear that students are still bitching about all the same things. I dunno…it sounds like it has improved a little. He brought up me joining the IAB again. If I keep staying at -40 vacation hours, I’ll probably never be able to go, though :) Maybe it won’t count against vacation time if it’s an industry event. I should ask!

We had our second team meeting this week, too. I got to present a project which was exciting and nerve-wracking. I also found out this week that I’m pretty much scheduled on Nike work until Spring. I can’t decide whether or not I’m excited about that :)
