Prophet’s Curse

I just read an article that reminded me of something I’d forgotten. With Halloween approaching, I was reading some local folklore, during which I realized the Haunted Mansion I’d always wanted to go through will not be operating this year.
Anyway, I was reading about Tecumseh’s brother, Prophet. He predicted that W.H. Harrison would lose the election but be elected in 1840. Also, he would die in office and every 20 years from that time on the president would die in office.
- Harrison was elected in 1840 and died in office.
- Lincoln was elected in 1860 and died in office.
- Garfield was elected in 1880 and died in office.
- McKinley was elected in 1900 and died in office.
- Harding was elected in 1920 and died in office.
- Roosevelt was elected in 1940 and died in office.
- Kennedy was elected in 1960 and died in office.
Most everyone knows that Reagan was elected in 1980. He had an attempt on his life but survived. Bush was elected in 2000, so according to the curse, he should die in office. Well, time is ticking on his term, and there hasn’t been as much as an attempt on his life. So the question is, did Reagan break the curse by surviving? Or will something happen to Bush in the next month? Or, does this mean Bush will win the election this year, so his term will technically continue through 2008, during which he will die?
