Well, yesterday afternoon I was chatting with a friend when the electricity randomly went out. In the year or so I’ve lived at my apt, the lights have only flickered once during a huge storm. Since it was not storming, I wasn’t sure what happened. My dog was practically having a seizure. She was visibly shaking and her heart was racing. With her heart condition, this made me nervous so I did everything I could think of to calm her down. I finally just took her outside which helped. As soon as we went back inside, she started shaking again, so we stayed outside for a while. When the power went out at my parent’s house one evening, their dog behaved the same way. I wonder why it affects them so much.

Anyway, I met some neighbors who were also standing outside trying to figure out what happened. They apparently heard a huge bang right before power was lost. Another neighbor said she heard a transformer blew. Well, I was planning to go home for the weekend, so I packed us up and left. Well, I got to the 52 intersection and the stoplights were dead. Cars were packed at all 4 sides trying to manage to work it like a 4-way stop. It was slow and the people turning left kept almost hitting other people. All the lights were like this up to the edge of campus. It was slow going.

I got home and talked to my dad and sis for a bit. I decided to take my old “beast” to the football game. It was my ‘92 Caddy DeVille. It’s sort of slowly dying, like the driver’s side window falls down and the heater is broken (I drove it for a year in HS without a heater in the winter. Nothing like having to almost pull over because your foot is shaking too much to drive). Well, it was fun times. I had to pass people just for old time’s sake. It’s a great sounding car. I got to hear even more with my window slowly slipping down. I took it for a joyride today, too, during which the window fell all the way down.

Back to the point. I read that the power outage was caused by a squirrel chewing through a wire which cased the transformer to blow. Apparently, there were over 7,600 people without power because of the little devil. 2,500 had power by 11 pm. They hoped to have the rest by midnight. Hopefully, my power is back for my food’s sake. hehe the power of one little squirrel is amazing. We protect against terrorists but it’s going to be the rodents that bring us down.

So yeah, I’m home for the day. My brother played an awesome game last night, and they won. I saw two of my friends at the game and really, no one else, which was nice :) I had to get up early and take my brother to watch film from the game. I had to kill the hour, so I just explored some new roads all around the high school. I found some great places to take pictures. I wish I’d remembered to take my camera with me this morning. Oh yeah, I haven’t sold any photos yet, but my mom says the way the lady has them arranged, no one even sees them, which is no good. I’m hoping to sell some. If I don’t, I guess I have more decoration for my house.
