The boss recommended we all take the afternoon off. I told him I’d already planned to. Heh. This afternoon I watched Once Upon a Time in Mexico and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. I absolutely loved them both. I wasn’t able to predict them at all, which is saying a lot.

I really didn’t know what to expect from Once Upon a Time in Mexico, so it was a pleasant surprise. Johnny Depp plays the strangest characters, but they’re so interesting. It was a strong cast overall. I have to say Depp scenes aside, the swinging down the side of the building chained together was pretty awesome. Both these were movies were so original. Oh, also, the scene with Banderas in the bedroom with the shadows was shot so well.

Sky Captain‘s visuals were stunning, and it was my favorite era they used for styling. The film was just beautiful to watch. This may have been my first Jude Law experience. Not bad. Gwenyth, I suppose, was perfect for the part, but I don’t think it was her best performance, aside from the fact that she managed to annoy me. But seriously, couldn’t they have at least gotten the woman some pants or different shoes?? Angelina, of course, never lets me down. Her role was short but completely badass! One thing I really hated was the last line of the movie. It was dumb, especially considering how the previous image showed us looking through the lens.

My friends are likely coming up tomorrow, which is cool, and I got an invite to eat at Chumley’s with some old CG folk. I must also mention, it’s an absolutely beautiful day. I really got a “spring” sensation when I got the mail. Gotta love seeing sunshine and melted snow.

and...I sent a suggestion to my mom’s friend back home about getting My Morning Jacket up for our summer concert series. She said all the June shows are arranged, and it’s all BLUEGRASS!!! She rocks. Pus, she gives us tickets and backstage passes to every show. Trace Adkins is the only other booking I know about.
