Now You’re in Their World

I took a day off work yesterday to travel to the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis to catch the Dinosphere exhibit with my friend, John, and his 10-yr old cousin, Reese. It ended up being a nearly 300-mile adventure by the time we picked up Reese down in Clinton. It was an awesome day.
The Dinosphere exhibit was awesome. The display was in the old IMAX theater, so the old screen had been used as a sky for the exhibit, hosting blue skies with pterodactyls flying over or treacherous thunderstorms with lightning. The atmosphere of the exhibit was one of my favorite parts. The skeletons were setup in real-life situations which made it more interesting, and of course, there were all kinds of little fun activities and other things to see.
We were there for about 6.5 hours. We visited every exhibit and watched Galileo: Life of the Telescope in the planetarium. We also took a tour of the mummy tomb and learned how to make our own mummy. That was kind of freaky. They had a doll with string brains you could pull out through its nose. Ha! The parents were all getting nauseous.
Reese had a great time. John and I helped him design an awesome boat so that he had a cooler one than the other kids. Plus, we climbed through tunnels and any other place with him, which killed my knees. I have bruises. Weak, I know.
I did all the driving, which was good experience for me. 465 & 65 afternoon rush hour traffic stressed me out a bit. John kept telling me to calm down because I was ready to get out and beat every person who refused to use their signal. Bastards. But anyway, I did wonderfully. I impressed myself. Stupid Zach had no faith. ha, I showed him. Once back, I spent the rest of the evening watching Salton of the Sea and listening to random CDs with John & Zach. It was a really fun day.
I got back in town today just in time to shower, print some stuff, and get to my work meeting. I had a private meeting with my bosses that went pretty well. They told me they were pleased with my work. Always a good thing to hear. I am starting to enjoy the project more now that I’m more comfortable with all the people involved. We have some fun times. I think I’ll have to try to get everyone to come down to my county fair for the hog wrestling. hehe a new definition of culture shock.
