I’ve been meaning to write about this for weeks. On two separate occasions, I found myself staring at the TV, saying “What the hell???” and then giggling uncontrollably. The Super Bowl was a huge commercial letdown, but these 2 commercials I speak of have more than redeemed my faith in marketing creativity.

First - GE’s ecomagination commercial, featuring an elephant pulling off Gene Kelly’s Singin’ in the Rain. I finally found a mov on the creator’s website, Quiet Man. See the commercial. They likely picked the largest, most awkward animal to be doing nimble little Kelly Moves. It cracks me up!

Second - Mentos bird melody commercial, involving birds humming 2 Unlimited’s No Limit track from ‘92. My favorite part is the woodpecker and the flamingos. See the commercial. This one is a big landmark, because I remember Mentos commercials made me want to die for the longest time.

I don’t laugh as much when I see them both now, but they sure make me smile.

Post image is obviously completely unrelated but yesterday my cleaning spree got interrupted by some quality wall decorating time. I can’t wait until I have more spare funds to donate to the cause.
