Thanksgiving was awesome. Best one in history…mainly because half my family wasn’t there, so it was drama-free. We took family portraits which I feel weird doing at my age. I made a spectacular pie…it was a miracle really. I went to Tyler’s show the night before (in the rain & cold, mind you). Then, by some stroke of genius, we (Erin, Andy, his girl Danielle, & Tyler) all thought it was a great idea to go to the Red Room. I didn’t realize until later that it was the busiest bar night of the year. I parked like a mile away. Sadly, no one was around to see me do long jumps over the puddles. I nearly died. All I had was Katie T. on the phone to appreciate my close landing. If you’re wondering, I totally took a running start. Red Room was fun, though. I got home about 2am. Alarm went off at 8:30, leaving me 2 hours to bake a pie from scratch, shower, pack, load the car, and take the dogs out. I was so only 10 minutes late getting home which makes me…amazing.
This week is flying by. Tyler has shows tonight & tomorrow. I’ve made myself his unofficial promoter. I’m wondering if I should make a career out of it…not with Tyler specifically, but in general.
In about 2 hours, my glorious video I made for work will be opening a conference in Cincinnati on 2 gigantic screens. I’m gonna try to score a video to post.
Yesterday, Johnny wooed the Adobe User Group Holland. Well, I haven’t actually heard from him, but I feel strongly that is an accurate review. I’ll post a video of it as soon as one is up. I’m like a proud parent.
But it’s 8am, and I should probably be on my merry little way to the shower so I can work. It’s cold and I hate cold. I’m fighting the CA vibes infecting my brain.
7:30pm Update
Apparently the video was well-received at the conference this morning. A co-worker in attendance sent this email:
I had the amazing pleasure of representing MS this morning in a room of 1025 people, where there were four giant screens with our very own Mindy entertaining ALL of those people. The dueling video looked fantastic’ You all should be very proud of your hard work on this project! The crowd was very engaged, laughed many times and I know that thoughts were provoked.
I’m not just saying that, I actually know they were. How, you ask? Because first the ‘MC” (our client) referred to it in her opening and thanked us personally’ that was expected though’
BUT, what was not expected was for their opening presenter, Dr. Nancy Zimpher, President of University of Cincinnati & member Kappa Alpha Theta Fraternity member, referred the video NUMEROUS times throughout her hour long presentation. This was someone who had never seen the video, nor knew anything about it. It was more than cool to have her refer to many specifics of the piece and draw on the powerful thoughts scripted, acted out, and edited by my team members in front of this very large, engaged crowd.
I haven’t seen the final video. I was too scared to see it right before they were about to send it off to Ohio. I guess we may re-edit it and use it for an internal marketing piece as well. Maybe someone will fall in love with my witty writing, great delivery, and pretty face and offer me something awesome :)
