After hearing such mixed reviews about Napoleon Dynamite, I just had to see it for myself. Honestly, I don’t think I could watch it a second time. The pace was slow and laughs far & few between. Most of the movie was just so damn true, it wasn’t funny. I had a kid at my high school exactly like Napoleon…down to the asthmatic-like talking and face. I had a kid in my class that wore snow boots year-round.

However, reminiscing about the golden 80s was fun times. You just can’t hate a movie that opens on a scene with a trapper keeper. I totally had a hot pink fanny pack and crimped hair in elementary school. (getting photo…umm found my canned air. It just fell on my head. Yes, that’s really me. I was quite the catch in first grade. Ha) So yeah, I didn’t fall in love with Napoleon, though the skinny white boy in chains with his white tube socks trying to play footsy nearly gave me a heart attack. The movie brought back such lovely found memories, though.

Question though…how the hell did the Backstreet Boys get in there? I know they didn’t show up until I was in high school. I loved the song at the opening of the movie, though…I must look that up.

Update Opening song is White Stripes - We’re Going To Be Friends, available on White Blood Cells album. I also forgot to mention the opening credits were awesome. Based on those, I thought I’d enjoy the movie a bit more than I did.
