My Video is Live!

First news first. I can finally comment on my first video editing project, since it’s *live*. Watch it here (and like Wheat Thins!). Wheat Thins staged several acoustic pop-up performances at the recent Bonnaroo Music & Arts festival in Manchester, TN. Our job was to create a highlight video from each band’s performance & interview footage. I hadn’t heard of any of the bands, but I honestly enjoyed all of their music, so I should take time to look up how they usually sound. I’ll share the others as they launch, but for now enjoy some Frank Turner (who I also considerable adorable btw). When I said the project was perfect for me, I wasn’t kidding. They gave us a hard drive of footage and let me have at it. So much fun. I can’t wait to share the others!
In cinema news, I’ve been on a complete nature/documentary kick (which is about to be side-tracked by the arrival of Dexter Season 3 from Netflix). If you’re looking for something pretty to watch on blu-ray, I whole-heartedly recommend Yellowstone: Battle for Life. I watched an online stream and still found it breathtaking. It’s broken into three segments: Winter, Fall, & Summer. The content, cinematography, narration, editing…all top notch. I learned so much and especially in Winter, the visuals…just wow. A guy at work also loaned me Baraka. I loved it. Such a great example of visual storytelling without any kind of narration. My brain was working at full speed trying to decipher/create its own interpretation of what it all meant. I actually stayed up late to watch the bonus footage, which told stories behind getting the shots and spoke of their overall approach. Incredibly interesting.
In other news, I pretty much purchased a whole new wardrobe this weekend with Emily’s help. I spent so much money but feel pretty good about the quantity of stuff I got for it. It all feels very *me* and that is exciting. I’m getting so much closer to having a personal style. I’m trying to look nice for work everyday, which is extra complicated by biking, but I made it through one week! I busted out a dress, heals, & a curling iron for Friday.
I can’t remember if anything else noteworthy has happened…aside from Tyler returning from his trip to Ukraine and restoring balance to my IM social life :)
It’s the final countdown to my NY trip and I don’t imagine having much to talk about between now & then.
PS Update 7/26, wheels are in motion for me to transfer teams at work! So excited about the new challenges, responsibilities, and stellar team!
