Long, wonderful day

Yesterday started off with a meeting with a long-term client of ours who I love because he’s just a great client and nice person. Well, he was running late so I was down the hall from our CEO’s office talking to the sales force. Well, I hear his voice and start to walk that way when I hear my CEO talking to him and say the word “England.” Naturally, I paused to eavesdrop. And then I hear the CEO continue:
Yeah! She went to England to meet a man!!!
The client looks at me down the hall & smiles and I take a few more steps putting myself in view of the CEO. His eyes got huge! He started jumping around, hiding his face out of embarrassment, saying “oooh! ooh! you weren’t supposed to hear that!” So that was amusing and slightly awkward. And so all I could think was everyone around me now saw my trip as an international booty call. *sigh*
So after my meeting, I told Adam that I wish I could start everyday off with a meeting with that client because he makes me have a good day. By the end of the day, I was thinking how true that was. I spent my afternoon sitting on the floor of our studio with Mitch with our laptops & papers scattered about working on a project that had been dumped on him. We had a lovely time and actually accomplished something. It was nice having someone within facial expression exchange distance (FEED hehe…i should trademark that) because we’d both end up eavesdropping on the same conversations and wouldn’t even have to say a word about it, just exchange a look and nod. Mitch was excited. He was like, “this is *almost* like collaboration!” Mitch got pulled away though but I stayed and enjoyed the pseudo peacefulness but eventually, felt like some social experiment as every single person who walked by felt the need to stare at me with a weird expression.
Fast forward a few hours and we were still working on this project, having been interrupted by other projects throughout the day. So Mitch asks if I’ve finished my part yet, and I say I’m about an hour out. So he says the best thing ever, “how about we both try to work as fast as we can and we can get milkshakes when we’re done?” I’m a complete fan of the rewards system. Magically, my writer’s block cleared and I kicked its ass. Everyone else declined joining us so we went to get our milkshakes down the road at Bub’s. We both had pseudo dreamsicle flavored ones…orange & vanilla, which I had forgotten existed as a combination, but the last one I had with that combo was the best milkshake I’d ever had and this was one was just as wonderful! I had a stare down with a small child while we waited. I was concerned about the fact that he was eating his styrofoam cup like it were a real cone. Mitch claimed to have done the same thing as a child, so that’s when I really started to worry about the kid :)
So Mitch had to leave after that to take care of Charlie, so I spent the rest of the evening in the office. President Dave stopped in around 9pm and we had a nice chat as always. He was venting about his mother-in-law. Oh, what it must be like to be a son-in-law.
So it was the longest day I’d had at the office in a good while, but it was a really nice time. Days like that inspire me to be a good worker, speaking of which, I should get back to it.
I’ve promised myself a trip to Luna if I get my work done in time.
