Live Aid = Fricken Amazing

Well guys, I’ve been sampling the Live Aid DVDs and man, there are some amazing performances…so amazing. I think the highlight has been U2 performing “Bad.” Bono broke in to parts of Sympathy for the Devil and Walk on the Wild Side. I’m pretty sure it was this concert that actually launched U2’s career, fitting I think. Gosh, and then there’s Sting and Roxanne, Queen but only with the intro to Bohemian Rhapsody, Elton John and Rocket Man…ooh and Neil Young with The Needle and The Damage Done. Eric Clapton played White Room AND Layla with Phil Collins on drums. I cannot even imagine how amazing it would have been to see this in person. People, do yourselves a favor and go to Target this second and buy this set! It’s on sale for half price through today.
hehe oh yeah and Bette Midler and Jack Nicholson were hosts in the US. Bette just said “unbelievable” 3 times in the same sentence. I started cracking up. Seeing Ozzy be able to walk was weird. He was also fat. It’s actually weird to see a lot of these people, but it’s a pleasant 80s flashback.
It’s amazing what these people put together. This is what Patty Labelle said before singing Imagine, apparently something Lennon once said. I liked it.
“Put it in your mind that things are right and maybe they will be right. Use your imagination.”
UPDATE: 3 B.B. King performances as extras. Okay, I’ve done a bit more than sample, but I’ve only seen about half of the footage so far. I could host a Live Aid marathon at my house!! That’d rock.
