UPDATE 7/15: Added photos from my cell. Notes were written by school kids in the Indiana Historical Society.

Well, I had quite an eventful weekend. I really enjoyed the 15 minutes of my Friday workday that involved coming up with ideas for headlines about rubies, if only that could be my entire day. We had a designer in from LA scoping out the sauce all day. I think it’s safe to say he became best friends with nearly everyone in a matter of minutes. Dave came down at the end of the day and said, “hey mitch, want to meet up with the guy for some drinks? i kinda already told him you liked uh drinkin’ and eatin’” And so, a group of us ventured down the road to muldoon’s, a fake irish pub. The guy was so excited that he bought the 7 of us a round of yeager shots, partly because it was so damn cheap.

I’d already made plans to venture downtown for improv, but we sidetracked a bit from that and spent some time at the Living Room lounge, which was way too much of a takeback to my hometown. We were late for improv which made for quite a downer. I’m pretty go w/ the flow except for when i’m missing out on something i want to do.

After improv, we all went down to old point tavern, and my night of “eh” fun continued. You know it’s bad when 2 capt & cokes don’t make it any better. I finally decided to go introduce hand skillz to mitch’s friends at the next table. I had no idea who they were but it was an excuse to leave the table. After meeting the climb time squad, I ventured inside to bring the improv group outside. I didn’t sit with them but it was either just their comedic presence or my third drink that started making things a little more enjoyable.

The amusing and almost depressing part of the evening was when mitch stopped over to talk to LA guy, who I was sitting next to at the time. So the guy says that at all his past companies, they only hire married men, presumably b/c they’re settled. He asked how many saucers were single, and mitch, that jerk, just looked right to me. “Umm me and two guys i think” And he continues, well, what’s it like being single around here. And I continued, “Well, I have 2 dogs…” and Mitch chimed in “I think that says it all.” Indeed it does, indeed it does.

On Saturday, Kurt drove down from Lafayette for a visit. I took him around downtown. We did some vintage shopping around Fountain Square and Broad Ripple, and paid a visit to the Indiana Historical Society, where they were on the verge of having a wedding moments after we left. We nearly made it in some of the photos. We joined up with mitch at b-dubs and he happened to be sporting a goodwill find, which was a nice compliment to our activities of the day. I think I may have found the perfect sofa for the sauce at fountain square, but silly me, I did not take a photo. hmm, I really shouldn’t post about 2 days at once. I get tired of typing by day 2.

Oh, but one last thing I should mention was the exciting, but later sort of disappointing discovery made on the way back to carmel. We drove by some “ruins” that turned out to be staged ruins to house some real sculptures from the demolition of the St. Paul building in NYC. I plan to go back and take some photos to share later.
