I’m honestly teary-eyed. I just watched the most amazing hour of music in my life. The first half hour was Wilco, who is incredible live. So talented. Then, Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes) was the second half hour, except after one song, he brought Mike Mogis on stage with him to play mandolin. Next song, Matt Ward comes out, singing O’Brien. And then, Jim James of My Morning Jacket joined and they sang Golden, my favorite MMJ song. They played one last song and just seeing them all play together was…I can’t even describe it.
Conor & Jim singing together created this strange sound…sweet & sour is only way I can describe the combo. Their music was like a spiritual experience. Just to see friends playing together like that and feeling the music was so powerful, it brought tears to my eyes. It was beautiful. I wish others had been around to share the moment.
