If Only Life were One ‘Big Panty’ Race

I ventured back home this weekend. I saw about 15 minutes of the demolition derby before it started pouring. I stole my mom’s little camera for the weekend, so luckily I was able to snap this awesome shot…only slightly blurred. My experiences at the fair were overall pretty disappointing. The positive part was no one recognized me.
I went to the ATV Drag Race the next evening, since my friend was participating. I was pretty much bored out of my mind. Improv gives me so much more for my $5. There was one highlight to that event, and that was the panty race, also captured on film. Basically, 2 people race halfway down the track, get off their vehicle, put on gigantic granny panties, and then finish racing down the strip. In their defense, the winner did get $150 cash. However, I decided the only thing more embarrassing than competing in such a race was being that one guy that couldn’t even get the panties on. Outright pitiful.

I spent Sunday on the couch watching dozens of movies, not enjoying the company of my brother’s new girlfriend, who I immediately disliked. I’m continually frustrated that I can’t visit home even once without having to spend the weekend with some stranger roaming around the house.
But besides all that non-awesomeness, I did have 4.5 hours of complete bliss on Saturday afternoon. I broke out the 4-wheeler and roamed the township with my camera. I ended up spending most the day at the farm, photographing things that meant something to me or some part of my life, because after seeing all that has changed back home, even since Easter, I’m frightened that it will all be gone by the time of my next visit. I took photos of every room in my grandma’s house and went thru some of her old things. I’m pretty sure the house may cave in soon. Amazing what happens when a house isn’t lived in for so many years.

I completely lost track of time during that adventure though, which caused me to be 2 hours late to the ATV race, a blessing in disguise. The weather was just absolutely perfect. I climbed up 2 of the bins for some aerial shots, and maneuvered my way in to the old silo for some pretty damn cool shots I must say.
