I FOUND A DOG!!! I’ve seriously been checking classifieds for every newspaper in a 3-county area and checking petfinder.com for any pets within the tri-state area. I got rejected for Karlie (pictured way below) and I thought there was hope for Sybil, but the lady suddenly dropped off the face of the earth for over a week after being in daily contact for a week. She finally sent me an email saying Sybil was adopted by someone else. That was just bad business. I won’t go in to anymore details. I called 3 places on Sunday about ads in the Sunday paper and all of the dogs had homes by the time I called THAT day. It’s been very disheartening.

Well, just when I was losing hope, I did my daily petfinder.com search this morning and discovered a yorkie-maltese mix in CRAWFORDSVILLE, a mere 20 min drive away, so I called immediately and she was still available. I was going to wait until the weekend to visit but I knew what would happen, so I got in my car and drove down there. I filled out adoption papers and then they said I could play with her as long I liked. We had bonding time in the pet visitation room and then I took her for a walk outside. She was a complete sweetheart; she wanted up on my lap immediately. I was there almost an hour, and the adoption counselor said she would call my references and give me a call tomorrow. As I was leaving, Snippy (the dog) tried to follow me out and everyone “awwed”. I heard the animal control guy say, “So did Snippy love her?” and the lady was like “Oh yes”. *Mindy smiles* I got a call an hour later saying I was approved and I could pick her up immediately. I spent a half-hour at wal-mart buying her all the necessities: toys, food, & snacks. I’m going to get her tomorrow or Wednesday, depends on work. First thing, I’m taking her to get her nails trimmed and a nice professional wash, so she can be beautiful when I take her around to meet the family. I was going to post a photo, but they took the posting down immediately so I don’t have one. I will have plenty soon enough, though. Guaranteed! As a preview, she’s about 10 lbs., snow-white/blonde, and she hates men (or so I’ve been told). haha my reply to that was, “That won’t be a problem. I don’t have any around” and the lady said “well…if I had it all to do over again, I might not either” hehe OK! I’m just totally excited!!! It still hasn’t even sunk in yet. I wish I had more people to show her off to. She’s house-broken, too. Awesome, eh? She walks wonderfully on a leash, so I can take her for lots of walks. Eek! Okay, I really need to do some work. I haven’t done much today besides ADOPT a dog. Finally!! Any suggestions for names? I’m thinking karma…??
