Despite working late to finish stuff up with Mitch on Wednesday, I still managed to make it down to Birdy’s for I Don’t So Now I Do‘s show…finally, after missing all their previous ones. Everything, Now!, Thin Fevers (blah), Kiss Me Deadly, and Evan Synder were also in the line-up. Crapload of music for $7.

Check out my concert photos Did I mention I love Flickr?

I had a fantastic night! All of the shows rocked except for the Thin Fevers. Maybe it was too much punk, but there was just no variation throughout any of their songs and I just wasn’t diggin’ it. I had a lovely time talking to John though. He was crazy nervous, but their show turned out really well. The new songs were a little rough but their established stuff was amazing. It was almost trippy and gave me the same feeling that I get when I listen to The Doors or Radiohead. He hooked me up with a numbered copy of their first CD :) I should have had him sign it. That woulda’ been funny.

I stuck around super late for Everything, Now! but it was also a great show and worth the wait. I got to meet some other Carmel area people, and a big portion of the night revolved around talking about johnny. john was telling me…“you know, even when you think you’re awesome at something, there’s always that guy that’s better…yeah, johnny is that guy for everything” haha don’t i know it. and all the guys at the nearby table heard the comment and all completely agreed. pretty funny. what else is funny is that i know as much about john in the maybe 2 hours total we’ve talked since i met him as i do about johnny after like 2 years :) he’s a nice guy. super polite & was nice enough to talk to me since i had no one with me. it was sad to see a friend miss his best friend so much, though.

The morning after the concert, I, of course, had to be at work earlier than usual. I was beat, but a morning road trip to Fishers with Mitch for a meeting made it manageable. He played a podcast for me that reminded him of me…about a lady who used her blog as a crutch for 5 years, thinking it would help her start her novel. The lady nailed what the blog experience is like…“you can choose to think people are or aren’t reading as you want” and she further said, “it’s a way of capturing those little things throughout the day where you want to turnaround & share it with a friend but no one’s there”. It was pretty dead-on.

Anyway, Mitch & I are quite the dynamic duo at work. He told me before he left Thursday: “this is really working”, meaning us teaming up on projects. It’s nice to know he thinks it’s working so well, too.

Today, I took my buyer’s agent out to eat at the Library. It was really nice! By the end of the lunch, she had taken my phone number with the intention of giving it to a single guy she just found a house for in the area. She said he’s cute in a boyish way with dark hair & blue eyes and he has a really dry sense of humor. In theory, it sounds promising. The funny part is the guy’s parents thanked her so much for finding him the perfect house and then said “now, we just need you to find him one more thing… a girlfriend” :) Apparently, she’s on top of that, too.

This evening, Mitch, Amy, and I went to a showing for our ceo’s father. I hate to say it but I had a really good time there, considering the circumstances. There were just lots of people telling nice stories. I felt oddly comfortable with a perfect stranger lying in a casket nearby.

And just as I was about to finish up this post, I check my answering machine to discover a harassing message. So the police were just hear to listen to it and open a case for it. Just what I needed.
