Today was the Wilkies last day at the sauce. I really wanted to bake them cookies, which I might at a later date, but this going in to work everyday thing is really wearing me out. Luckily Adam rocks and put together a nice gift and got a card for each of them. I really tried not to think about their departure too much so as to keep myself from getting upset.

Their departure also marked the return of Mitch to the office. It will be strange turning around to actually see him at his desk in place of the random contractors that have been occupying it in his absence. It’s nice to have him back. Things just weren’t the same without him.

And in case you’re curious why I’m putting myself through the 128-mile roundtrip commute on a daily basis now, my job is yet again evolving. I’m one of a group of newly created “creative directors”...in quotes because the pres isn’t keen on printing us all new cards :) Basically, I’m gonna play mother to about 5 projects at a time from the very beginning to the very end, guiding them through every step of the process and making sure they travel in a timely manner. For lack of a better word, it’s definitely the control I’ve been seeking. It’ll take a few rounds before I really make the most of the role, but so far, so good. Apparently, the red cross thinks I’m a savior, but then again, doesn’t everyone?

My goal for tomorrow…I type it with the hopes of feeling some obligation to follow through on it…is to get up 15 minutes early, exercise and go for a run in the bitter cold darkness. And then, tomorrow after work, I’m going to the Carmel library to get myself some CDs so that I can ideally learn French on my drive to work, since one of my pre-death goals is to speak broken French. Yes, broken French.

And on a funny note, the huge site I slaved over for work went live today and it seems SMH went live this same day a year ago. Really, it’s quite fitting.

It’s 9pm. Maybe I’ll make it through Scrubs but maybe I’ll just fall asleep…right here…
