How to Embarrass a Guy

I got stuck late at the office on Thursday, partially b/c I lingered, soaking up the social interaction but also because it was pouring. When I got home, I returned my blockbuster movies and then called Adam about stopping over, since he said I’d be close to his house. So I meandered back to his house and immediately realized why he didn’t want to move to an apartment. They were back in a wooded utopia. I got the official tour which was followed up by skimming through photos of his past places and then about an hour of talking in the most comfortable chair in the world. Being there inspired yesterday’s activity of rearranging my apt and taking a trip to hobby lobby. I was at his place forever but I had a great time!
Not long after I was home, I got a call from my old pal Zach back home. We talked til really late, and I finally had to crash. So the next morning, I’m in a meeting with Derek & Mitch and Mitch says “so is Babbages [code name for Zach b/c back in the day he took me to Babbages on the weekend] coming up?” I nodded and he continued, “So are you prepared to make some bad decisions tonight?” and so that resulted in about 10 minutes of laughing.
I had a nice lunch at McAlister’s Deli w/ Mitch & Justin. My sandwich was scrumptious and it was perfect weather for dining outdoors.
That afternoon, I spent a bit of time in the media room taking photos of myself, which luckily no one else realized. I was prepping for a shoot later in the day where I was gonna have to make the lady a silhouette, so I was trying to nail down poses that worked. I’m really surprised that no one heard my laughing and poked in to see what was going on.
After I sent my first test shots to Mitch & Derek, I got a smartass reply from Derek:
hahaha. that is great. i think it will be fine. i wanna see more poses though….
can i offer some suggestions?
- can’t avoid a crash
- just ate a good meal.
- riding a bike (pedaling)
- doing the robot.
- singing your heart out (maybe celine dion style)
- yelling at me for not moving the fucking blue line 12 px to the left
:)
And so, ask and you shall receive, I always say:

Main post image is my “crash” face. I told the guys it was America’s Next Top Model style, and clearly, I missed out on a profitable modeling career :) Plus, I told Derek I’m going to send the shots to Apple and tell them I’m the next big thing in silhouettes hehe
So after all that excitement, Zach finally arrived at work. Mitch did not tease him, and I was pretty disappointed. But president Dave & Bryan pulled through. I poke my head in Dave’s office and…
Me: Hey dave, this is my friend zach
D: oh…friend??? is there something special about this friend??
Me: Well, he was my first boyfriend back in the day
haha so he introduces himself…and we keep walking and I mention to Zach that it’s my goal to thoroughly embarrass him. He said I was doing a great job. Then I hear a conversation between Dave & Bryan happen in the next room:
D: Hey, did you meet Mindy’s friend? Her first boyfriend is here.
B: hey, why haven’t I gotten to meet him???
I can see Zach looking for a place to disappear :) So Bryan comes in and introduces himself. I walked back to my desk by myself and Bryan comes up next to me and says the most hilarious thing:
B: So mindy, is he really just a friend?
M: Yes…
B: Well, I didn’t notice a British accent…but i didn’t want to say anything and cause any trouble
oooh i cracked up!
Anyway, we finally headed out and went to Macaroni Grill as recommended by Mike. It was amazing! Our host was pretty good looking and then we get our waiter, Diego, who looked & sounded like a young Antonio Banderas. I was like “wtf”. I’m out by myself alllll the time and never encounter cute, charming men, but the one time it looks like I’m out on a date, I get them in packs!! I’m not one to woo but Diego was pretty damn dreamy.
After food, we saw Over the Hedge, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was not Shrek quality but I didn’t leave disappointed like Madagascar. The theater was full of small children, and I think I mostly giggled at them giggling. I won’t give it away but there’s one sequence that seriously killed the entire audience. I think we were all in tears from laughing so hard. The entire movie was a complete mockery of humans and their gadgets. It was really enjoyable.
And yesterday, I spent an afternoon at Hobby Lobby. That store just presents so many possibilities. I’ve got my decorating work cut out for me this weekend.
My big victory yesterday though was I finally worked up the courage to go shoot some hoops by myself. I got 7 free throws in a row. It was a nice lil workout. Maybe I’ll do it again tonight. I like holidays. No one else is around. Of course, while I was playing though, this beautiful Italian boy (they were speaking it) started playing tennis next to me w/ his father (or so i assume). It’s like a foreign invasion, catching me at my worst moment.
And now I’m going to re-rearrange my living room and hang some photos. I also finally bought some albums so my photos will no longer be stored in stacks. I got frames for my enlargements so I may post photos of those later.
