This is a long post, but I had a very interesting, eventful Saturday with imagery to share.

Yesterday, my sister & I explored the Laf-WL area for houses I’d found on the internet. Well, I ended up finding lots of cool houses that we randomly passed them, but one took the cake. We pulled in this driveway with a “for sale” sign at the end. Well, the driveway went on for like 2 miles, curving through dense woods. As we rounded a corner, there was a custom covered bridge over the creek, built by the house owner. My sister looked at me and said, “Mindy, I’m thinking this is out of your range.” I was getting the same feeling, so after crossing the bridge, we caught site of the house and we were both in awe. My sister was driving so I could take pics and get a good look at houses, and she started freaking when she realized we had to pull all the way up to the garage to turn around. Well, as soon as we got to the garage and turn, a truck pulls out of the garage. The owner followed us all the way down the drive, as I was taking pics of his covered bridge. haha weird. Well, I looked up the house on the internet. Ahem, $650,000. haha. yeah it was awesome to see in person. I could spend a whole post listing the features.

On the way back into town on 43, we saw the entrance to the Indiana Veteran’s Home. Well, I couldn’t easily get a picture of this part, but the road actually zig-zagged up the front of this hill, like terracing. It was so grand-looking. I’d always wanted to drive up & take a look, so we did, and it was so neat. We saw this bed & breakfast that I had to photograph. It appears to have the original windows that look kind of wavy. My camera battery was nearly dead and the lighting was not great, so I’ll need to return another day. They have their own power supply and water tower up there. We drove back through the cemetery, which was nearly a mini-Arlington in appearance. At the back of the cemetery, there was this amazing collection of homes that we drove around. I found one for sale, which I looked up when we got home. Only $300K.

There were so many discoveries I couldn’t take photos of but I made my sister turn around so I could snap this gem. Every window (at least in the front of the house) was stained glass or had some leading design on it, very Frank Lloyd Wright-esque. They were beautiful. There’s some surprisingly interesting architecture in the area, especially along Soldiers Home Rd. Great place to take a drive.
After our house hunting adventures, we went to the Szechuan Garden for dinner. The place was packed so we decided to wait on take-out. There was this Indian party of 13 people waiting on a table. They were lots of fun. The host came out and told them their table was ready but the people were still talking. haha, so the father turned to us and said, “That’s good sales. ‘Our work is done but the customers are talking.’” hehe we were joking about it. The guy shared our humor when the host of restaurant couldn’t spell my name and finally just gave me the pen. That poor family was waiting the whole 20 min we were, though, and they had reservations. The kids were pretty funny, too. The boy kept mocking his dad. We finally got the food, though, and it was worth the wait.
After eating, we went down to the Riverfront Jazz & Blues Fest. I’m not sure who the first band was we saw but they were good. The Clayton Miller Band was all I cared to see, though. We stood about a foot from the stage, and the hour & a half show was AMAZING. They kept bringing up more family members to play with them. The entire family is talented. My sister was amazed. She wasn’t all that excited about going, but she was a die hard fan by the end of the show. The father mentioned they were finishing up a DVD, so I’m going wait and buy that. I’m so excited. Seriously, people check out their website and listen to them.
And my last exciting story for the day happened on our drive home from the jazz fest. We were stopped at a light and a guy on a crotch rocket pulled up next to us (12:30 am btw). Well, my sister is obsessed with these machines, so she turned to check out the bike. Well, the guy turned and saw her so they started having a hand gestures conversation, while I hid my face, not believing what I was seeing. The guy motioned he had an extra helmet and my sister pointed that she wanted a ride. Thank god the light turned green and we both took off. Of course, he sped off in front of us at high speeds. He slowed down a bit and let us catch up so we could see him pop wheelies. I can’t express how impressed I was. ha ha ha The best part, though, was he was wearing work boots, like the camel colored ones with shorts with his bike. It was an odd combo, and so, of course, my sister says, “Wow, I didn’t notice the boots earlier. That could have been embarrassing to ride with him.” sheesh, but there for awhile I was fearing he was following us home, but he finally took off. And that was my fun Saturday. I think I covered most of it :)
