Great Meal, Minor Fire

I received a call that mom arrived safely in Milan, so that’s cool. What’s not cool is I had a horrible nightmare and woke up scared out of my mind. Dogs woke me up at 5:30. It felt like I’d just gotten back to sleep. Jenna and I spent the morning sprucing up Kyle’s room. If I weren’t lazy, I’d post a photo…I might later. We made it lovely. I even convinced Kyle that the flowers on his desk were cool.
After lunch, Jenna & I went for a run/walk. I was umm a little behind. We sat back at the cabin for a bit, before heading back. We decided we need to have a small party back there this summer.
We decided to make a fancy dinner, so after looking through all of mom’s recipes, we decided on chicken roll-ups (Italian variation of chicken cordon bleu), Fettuccine Alfredo, and vanilla cream puffs (always wanted to make them). So I slaved in the kitchen for 2 hours instead of going 4-wheeling. Hopefully, the rain holds off tomorrow. Our meal turned out wonderfully. Found out that grandma used to make cream puffs all the time; dad recognized the taste and ate 3. heh
We had one minor setback in our meal prep. The start of my cream puffs boiled over, and Jenna used that same burner before I had a chance to clean it up. I was getting the next ingredients ready, and Jenna says, “umm the kitchen is on fire.” haha so I turn, kinda look and say “hmm,” noting the 6-8” flame coming from the stove. I started digging for the baking soda, casually walked over and started sprinkling it. So yeah, the normal opening wasn’t cutting it so I took scissors and cut the lid off, while Jenna ran to open doors & windows. One more dump and I yelled, “I win!” Afterward, I said, “Jenna, I’m impressed. We were really calm about all that.” But she said, “Maybe too calm…”
While we were cooking, Snippy did the strangest thing. I looked out the window and she was just sitting in the middle of the driveway. I ran outside to yell for her, and she just sat & stared. She finally came running. It was just really weird. I almost appreciate her snoring because I don’t have to worry that she’s died. I’m getting really nervous about that. I’ll go crazy.
oh, Happy St. Patrick’s Day. I was bummed to realize it occurred over break. I wanted to celebrate it this year, explore my inner Irishman.
Over.
