Foxtrot

Well, I think I now have substantial evidence that Foxtrot (the comic strip) is based off of my life. The youngest boy in the family is my long-lost twin. I believe at least my mom and sister would swear to this based on the following examples:

Sad but true, my friends. There’s no denying it. It’s no wonder this has been my favorite comic since senior year in high school. Oh, there’s a funny story on how it actually became my favorite. Well, not that funny but nevertheless, I’m going to share it.
Up until that time, Garfield was hands down my favorite, again because Garfield and I had a lot in common—a love of two things: food & sleep. But one day in college prep English, our student teacher asked us to bring in a sample comic. Well, while reading through the paper, I found Foxtrot to be very funny so I brought it in. WELL unbeknown to me, it was assumed that we’d bring a sample of our *favorite* comic. I was the first person asked to share my comic and he asked me to tell a brief history about the comic. (He & I were struggling to get along after he used me as the source for a sample sentence and used “was” instead of “were” which infuriated a group of us as it’s a major pet peeve but mainly it was because he thought I didn’t like him at all. And so, like so many before him, I became a goal. He felt compelled to win my respect and get me to participate in class.) Well, I said “This is only the second time or so I’ve read it. I have no idea what’s going on.” Everyone laughed, and I shrugged. It was awesome because I totally killed his example. Oh wait, it was actually then that he made the BAD sentence, so since I didn’t know about the comic, it made it extremely difficult for him (and I secretly enjoyed it).
But yes, that was the long version but from that day on, I became a very dedicated fan of Foxtrot. The geekier I get, the more I love it. I might even like to get some of the books, especially the one titled, “Your mom thinks square roots are vegetables”
If you’re wondering, I do enjoy Dilbert occasionally, but truly, Foxtrot usually kills it every week.
