Unfortunately, I slept thru art vs art. Not that I had any intentions of going solo anyway, which is too bad b/c turns out, it was really damn cool from what mitch saw of it on the news this morning. It all worked out though because I would have never survived the after party concert without a pre-nap.

I managed to not find Virgina Ave several loops in a row. I found myself in really ghetto Indy and called Derek for help. You know to worry when all you hear is police sirens :-/

I made it to Radio, Radio about 11ish and hooked myself up with a nice drink. I was half anticipating to be watching the show solo, but luckily, John & Johnny showed up not long after me. they are such a lovely pair. I mean that in the least gay way possible. They’re just great to talk to. I like having smart friends that aren’t losers.

The first band…K something. I didn’t mind them much until the chick seriously took a 15 min soapbox interlude…something about holes in the ice and the government. None of us disagreed with what she was saying but we were just trying to chill out and so we made fun of her. *shrug* i wondered if she and the other guy in the band were an item, and John’s logic was they’d have to be for him to tolerate her talking like that at every show. See smart friends.

Pravada was surprisingly better this round. When I saw them at the Vogue last year, I seriously wanted to leave. They were kinda rockin’ last night tho.

We had to go outside while we waited for Richard of Margot to play though because the DJ was playing the worst music ever. And playing it deafeningly loud.

I didn’t think the guys were gonna survive. There was serious yawnfest. I think Richard finally played a bit before 2am. Some artist friend of John’s was there, though, and he & Johnny drew a lovely stick person sketch in the guy’s “idea” book. In retrospect, I should have taken a photo. damn. John drew soapbox chick, shouting “save the polar bears” and johnny drew a lady by a fence with a scarecrow and lots of birds in a pond in front of the fence and all of them were wearing flower pots. They were both actually quite cool.

Completely unrelated, I’m watching the Bonnaroo live stream and all I can say is I’m pissed I didn’t know about this sooner. But secondly, I tuned in just in time to catch MMJ and this very moment Andrew Bird joined them on stage for a song. Quite the highlight of the night :)

Back to the story, though. It was such a great night. I truly miss Johnny. I was happy to get my hang out time with him while he’s in town. Maybe one day I’ll have more than -3 vacation days and I’ll get to go visit San Fran, after I visit Rach in DC…of course.

Anyway, I pulled myself out of bed today and spent a long day at the office rearranging furniture while learning of several bouts of drama about. I did get to see president Dave’s ‘61 Cadillac though which was quite exciting. Mitch and I packed up our desks and moved our crap downstairs. We’ve been booted out of the “creative” area but have decided its awesomeness will crumble in our absence and our downstairs oasis will become the new hot spot. We even have a breakout room off to the side that we plan to populate with my lava lamp, bean bags, and a wall of random ideas. And we plan to spend as much of our day in there as possible. I tried to get Mitch to just join me in taking it over as our own space but he’s weak :)

Anyway, I’m looking forward to a very interesting Monday. I anticipate some mixed feelings.
