Fillmore Jazz Festival

Yesterday, I ventured down Fillmore to check out the jazz festival, which I had honestly been looking forward to since I moved here. Sadly, when I arrived to the bus stop, it was saying “40 minutes til next bus,” which was unacceptable but it also meant walking up a massive hill in flip flops & a short skirt, a wardrobe decision based around taking the bus. So I walked 10 blocks uphill and then down another 10 exploring the festival and then back up the other side of the booths and then back down to go home. I thought I broke my feet. It was all worth it, though. There were some great booths, including Photographs of Old America, where I picked up my dad’s christmas gift. I also got a new bag from Slainte. It was a lot more than I planned to spend, but so far I love it and the designer was there selling them, which was cool. It’s functional and will be fantastic in Amsterdam. I got this one.
I heard some great music, but I didn’t linger by a stage as long as I would have liked. I caught the most of Vinyl and I was completely digging it. There were petitioners at every street corner asking that we rename our sewage plant in honor of George W. Amusing, but honestly, that’s more something I’d say to be funny but not actually invest time on executing. I suppose that’s the difference between myself and someone pledged to a cause.
It was a nice time. I was mainly disappointed by the food selection. My crab cakes were completely underwhelming. Also, by being there, I missed out on awesome free tix to the Giants game with Diana. I think it all worked out. I enjoyed soaking up some sun for a few hours, even if I did get obvious judging looks at my white legs. They have to get sun somehow.
I watched Persepolis with Justin, which was educational but I didn’t love it. We ended up taking an intermission half-way through for some pho. It was my first vietnamese(?) experience, and I must say, I’m a fan. We ate at The Citrus Club which scores 5-stars for ambiance. I wouldn’t know if it was authentic or good vs bad, but I liked it for whatever it was. It was also affordable and there was plenty for 2 meals. I’m pretty impressed with myself for my food branching. I had salad without meat today. I was sampling salad dressings. I don’t know which kind I like. I’m so new to semi-healthy eating.
Anyway, I also reinstated my Netflix subscription. The bummer is I can’t do the Instant Watch on my mac. I thought I could install XP, but apparently the version I have is too old. Pretty disappointing. So if anyone has a copy of XP SP2 they want to sell/give away, that’d be great :) Otherwise, I may invest in the Netflix Streaming Box once I own a real TV (one with RCA-cable connections). Bed & sofa are higher up on that list, though.
I tried baking today. It didn’t go well. I’m still figuring out how to use my kitchen. I didn’t expect perfection on the first go, so I’m not too upset. I’ll find my perfect kitchen zen in due time.
