Did that All Happen Yesterday?

Can I just say…I am in terrific spirits.
I have so much crap to do, but I’ve made a checklist and I’m following it and making awesome progress.
Visited David & Alex’s new baby yesterday with Amy & Adam. She’s adorable! Since David wasn’t there, I had no pressured baby holding…what a relief. It was nice to see Alex. She’s awesome. The poor thing…her husband chased a turkey in the hospital parking lot. Chased…to the point that people stopped their cars & watched. :) (he later clarified that in his haste, he also forgot his coat but it was worth the photos he took)
After dropping Amy & Adam off at work, I went down to the Mini dealership and test drove a second car. The salesman set me free on this one and let me venture out on my own. There was a man stopping traffic for some powerline workers, and I looped past him like 5 times. I just started laughing as I drove by him the last time. I wondered if he recognized me coming through every 5 minutes. I felt like we should be friends by now.
So yeah, me & the mini are gonna get a speeding ticket. The little guy gets on it and you don’t even realize it. It’ll definitely take some adjusting to the smaller interior and lack of nooks & crannies to put my “stuff” but damn, it is so fun! I’m totally joining the Indy Mini Club. I just read the new member pledge (b/c I woke up at the crack of dawn AGAIN, suffering from pre-purchase buyer’s remorse). Anyway, I just started giggling when I read it—to the point that I was crying. And so, I’m going to share it here. Maybe you can understand my glee:
“I (state your name) do solemnly swear to uphold the mission of the MINI Car Club of Indiana and to take care of my MINI who has been christened, (state MINI’s name here). Realizing that owning a MINI is a great responsibility I will do my best to wave at passing motorers and to have fun even when driving to work. I will wear my ownership as a badge of honor, and will spread the joy of MINI to everyone I meet. Even after my friends, family and co-workers are tired of hearing about my MINI. ” - minicci.org
So last night, I took my car to carmax, hoping to secure a better offer than what the dealer offered me. Well, I met this lovely man, Jim (coincidentally, the name of my sales man at Mini). We had a nice chat while my car was being test driven. And they beat the other offer by 1,500. I was pumped! While I was waiting on the paperwork, the man at the front desk was being harassed by his co-workers. He told me the story. They were having a food drive at the office, and he was getting crap for sending an email that said “Bring me your cans.” Haha…the ladies were giving him a hard time for that one.
By the time I wrapped up there, it was 9pm. Time to start my Christmas shopping! I totally bought gift cards everywhere. When I walked in to TGI Friday’s, someone screamed “Mindy!!!!!” It scared the hell out of me. I had no doubt I would turn around to find someone I had no desire to speak to (or maybe remember). Well, I turned and had no fricken clue who this chick was. She was like “I’m Phil Kijack’s girlfriend!!!” and it all made sense. Phil is a fellow comedian down at crackers. So, I ended up talking on her cell to Phil, who handed me off to his friend, Matt, that I’ve been claiming to know from college, but he doesn’t remember me. Surprise, surprise ;) Lucky for both of us, he was apparently drunk the night I ran in to him at Hot Box, when I said “Hey! You! I know you!” and then got distracted and ended the convo at that. haha.
So yeah, I have to go work some miracles at the BMV, bank, and some dealerships. If all goes well, I’ll be driving my Mini to the office this afternoon!
Better get to it, before I talk myself out of it.
Oh! and crap. I need to post about Matt Holt’s roast….for a later date. It was sooo much fun!
