I just got back from the free Deadstring Brothers show at Luna. They completely rocked my world! Slide guitar, organ, and smooth vocals are always a sure combo. Practically no one else was there which was disappointing. I’m really sad that I don’t have time to go to their show tonight as well, but I was pushing my limits spending an hour at this one.

You can check out the same songs that introduced them to me over a year ago here: http://music.download.com/deadstringbrothers.

John at Luna tracked me down a copy of the Elizabethtown soundtrack before the show, and I got it for dirt cheap. I wanted to buy the Deadstring Brothers album and a Margot t-shirt they had, but I decided to make another trip of it to get myself in a better habit of going down there. Had a nice talk with John. I was glad he could appreciate why I needed the Elizabethtown soundtrack to get my MMJ hookup.

So after the rocking show, I’m walking out and the bass player (far right in photo) is by the door so I’m just like “hey, it was a great show guys” thinking it would be in passing, but he’s like “thanks…do i know you from somewhere? you seem really familiar” I was pretty sure we hadn’t met. So he introduced himself and I was going to offer him a card, but I hadn’t put them in my new purse. Damn. So I walked out to their van and gave him my email for the mailing list. He was interested to hear where I worked and it turns out that he’s a graphic designer.

Actually, he did sort of look familiar to me too, but I’m certain we never met. He said he was at MMS last year so maybe we were at the same show or something. Anyway, it was funny to me and postworthy.

PS i LOVE this song
