Yesterday, I spent the first half of my day going up to West Lafayette for a photo shoot at a sorority. It was the first and hopefully last time I step foot in one. Interestingly enough however, the random friend with an apartment of one of the girls turned out to have an apartment that shared a wall with where Evan used to live. And then, even stranger, was the girl opens up her laptop and her wallpaper pictures I guy I went to HS with. Apparently that’s her boyfriend and then as I look around the room, I see him on every wall. Haven’t talked to the guy in a year or so, but I managed my witty remark to make its way back to him, “Oh Ben, we never thought he’d find a girlfriend.”

So anyway, after the return back to Carmel, I got my long overdue haircut at the new place that went in under work. It was expensive but she was nice and did a good job.
So Dave called me last night about his band, Darling, playing at Birdy’s. I had decided to stay in and work, but I realized I’d end up watching one of the three movies on TV instead of working anyway, so I may as well get out. There were four bands. Darling put on a good show. Welcoming the Ghost is still my fave song. Really, overall it wasn’t so much my flavor of music, but it was good fun hanging with Dave (drums) & his fellow band members during the other shows. It was also fun playing band photographer during their set. It was my first time breaking out the flash for a concert, and I was pretty happy with the results. I enjoy being asked who I’m taking photos for, like I’m someone important heh.

The first group didn’t start until almost 10pm, so it was almost 2am by the time the last band, Loretta, finished their set. Turns out I’d been standing with that band most the night, but I was none the wiser to it. They played a fantastic set. (Download some tracks here) We were all impressed. It of course made Darling feel great that they were asked to play with them.
Of course, since I went to that show, I’ll have to pass on Matisyahu tonight, but I couldn’t find anyone to go with me anyway.
