Apartment photos…at last

When I got home from work this past Friday, I made a promise to myself that I wouldn’t even turn on my computer the entire weekend. I talked to my mom mid-day Sturday, and I told her of my success thus far. All she could say was “Mindy, you sound like a recovering alcoholic.” Sadly, it’s not far off. I really had to fight the habit of going in my office and hitting the power button first thing in the morning more than anything. And then, of course, I kept thinking of things I wanted to look up and wondering if I had some important email, but I persevered!

And so my weekend turned out to be completely productive. I did laundry & dishes, thoroughly cleaned the whole apartment, pressed my shirts, and worked in a bunch of Cary Grant & Ryan Gosling movies, my dreamy men past & present. I spent most of Saturday at Hobby Lobby (buying flowers for the vase my sister got me), Lowe’s (mainly roaming but decided I needed some patio furniture), and Target (I *needed* t-shirts).

So I toted my new patio furniture home & assembled it, set up my plant holder on the railing, and planted my nearly deceased flowers and some newly purchased mint & lemon herb seeds. I got up early Sunday, read the whole Sunday paper & watched Sunday Morning on CBS in between cleaning. I spent the rest of my afternoon with my newly purchased pilates mat rolled out on my patio and I took a nap in the sunlit area. Yes, just like a dog. I didn’t think I’d actually fall asleep, but yeah, my legs are a bit burnt today.

I can’t remember feeling so at peace. As I was sitting outside, I even had the sensation to read a book, so I ran in but had nothing of interest :( borders trip is in store for this week. Then I did my pilates like a good kid and sucked less with the help of my mat. There was still time to kill before Desperate Housewives so I grabbed the one CD (an mp3 cd) I had in the house, as the rest were down in my car, and I popped it in my DVD player and danced around my living room to Andrew Bird’s “Skin”.

It was so fantastic. Of course, my euphoric spirits were shot to hell as soon as I got to work but so it goes.

I’m really excited about going to the concert this week though! It just sucks drummer Dave has to work. Maybe a nice lookin’ indie boy will feel sorry for me and be my friend for the night :) haha no, that’s why I’ll take my camera
