Well, I moved my alarm up to 6am today, but I still snoozed until 7am, which is normally the time I need to be on the road. I just knew how distracted my brain was yesterday, so I gave it an hour in bed to wake-up, and as a bonus, there was actually some daylight by then. So I mosey to my office and check my email & other online spots, in no particular hurry to get to the shower. I had some toast, set my VCR to record my shows in case I was home late, and finally got ready & left for work. The roomie gave me a rent check, so I hopped straight to the bank.

It was such a beautiful morning. I had my lil green hoodie on (courtesy of Rach), was listening to my Johnny Slack mix CD from awhile ago, and had the windows rolled down. It was about 8:45am by now, and I was just cruisin’ and singin’ really loud and off-pitch. I was in great spirits. The drive went by so quickly, and I found myself at Roberts Photography 15 minutes before they opened, so I walked on down the strip to Starbucks. I’d been craving another chai tea latte. As soon as I walk in, I hear “Hi Mindy!” Company president & CEO are sitting right there. hehe I think they were clueless I hadn’t been to work yet. I told one of the Starbuck ladies my name and the one taking my order was like “and she’s a photographer too!” as I had my camera over my shoulder. So I had a 5 minute chat with her about my camera. She was so interested!

So I moseyed back down the strip with my chai in hand, and I felt like such a regular. I sat on the (freezing) park bench for a bit waiting for them to flip over the “Open” sign. They finally did so I went in and this lovely older woman helped me. She told me about this great filter system that would save me a lot of money. I haven’t bought it yet. Main purpose of my visit was to get a new flash for my camera.

I finally made it to work about 10:15am, but of course, I had to play a bit with my new, very expensive toy. I really only bought it so soon because of the Florida trip. I bought a diffusion dome for it as well, and by golly, the very first photo I took inside turned out beautifully. Perfect skin tones and even lighting. I cheered. The most exciting part is that I can use my built-in flash as master and use this new one as a remote flash to be placed anywhere within 50 feet, since they talk wirelessly. That should prove quite handy.

Derek stopped by to ask how my day was and he ended up staying a bit, after I was like “actually it’s a great day,” so he got to hear a quick version of how lovely the Starbucks and Robert’s ladies were, feeding my good mood. I magically became better friends with everyone in the office. Mitch had purchased the next version up of the flash I got the night before and he said he just took loads of pics of his dog eating. hehe I had to settle for Adam posing at his desk for my model.

It’s just been like a miracle day, because I’ve been pretty down this week. I think I was missing my vitamin D. I was sure to soak it up as I was driving. I was more productive than I was yesterday, but I still feel I didn’t get enough accomplished. There were lots of interruptions, though. 3 new hires visited, so I guess I have reasons.

I worked til 6:30 (still managed an 8-hour day) and went back to Robert’s (it’s so close to us…very exciting) because I forgot to buy a UV filter. Well, apparently there was a shift change because there were just a bunch of young cute guys working there which was quite exciting.

So I got that and tossed in a different CD for the drive home..my indie mix 1/3. I was really dancing to this one and struggling to sing between coughing. I veered off on 52, the usual as of late, so it was just me and the open road. I was really debating stopping at this roadside diner I always passed called the “Sit-n-stop” or something. I will stop one day if only to take its picture. For that little strip of road, I feel I’m out in the desert, maybe on Route 66. I really do want to eat there too though, because it’s one of those old school trolley diners and it’s just out in the middle of nowhere. It’s awesome.

So I made it home just in time to watch That 70s Show season premiere (what I’d set my VCR for earlier), which was excellent. It was especially excellent because my roommate was not home. First night and forever that I’ve come home to an empty house. I’ll admit I “woohooed” upon the realization.

Oh, and it’s 10pm and I don’t feel like I’m gonna pass out. How glorious. I may have to stick to these work hours. It does just leave me in a generally better mood since I’m not rushed in the morning and feeling completely exhausted.

Wacky Tobacky was my jam at work today…hehe the fact I listened to this multiple times makes it painfully obvious what a super good mood I was in. I did lots of chair dancing at work today between Weeds soundtrack and Holden.

Now I just need to buy rechargeable batteries for my flash and fire my realtor tomorrow. Yes, seriously. I may even save money on my car insurance. My agent asked me today if I had graduated from college because that would give me another discount. Umm yeah like 1.5 years ago! Jeez.
