An American Girl & Unicorns

Well, I was just checking TV guide for tonight (ahem, it’s Tuesday. TV addiction day), and something caught my eye “Samantha: An American Girl Holiday”. At first, I was like “surely not,” but hell yeah, it was a movie about a doll I have at home. Ok, I was never a doll person, and yes, this is my only one. I read all the “Samantha” books. The “American Girl” series was a HUGE thing back in the day. There were dolls from different cultures and eras with complete set of accessories in the style of their time. Samantha was by far the coolest in the series. That and the Victorian era was super cool. I loved reading descriptions of her house. Gosh, I’d completely forgotten about all this, but yeah, tonight at 8pm on the WB, the 2-hour movie will air. I’m fricken excited. I don’t remember much at all about the character, but I’m pretty sure she was outspoken and liberal :)
Tune in to that but make sure to flip back & forth and catch Scrubs. It’s titled “My Unicorn”. I’m very curious. I’m a huge unicorn person. I had a little porcelain unicorn that was like my “doll”, and it slept on a little velvet couch in my “tent” (like the ones with sleeping bags for kids) in my room when I was little. haha yeah all my unicorns were breakable but I’d bring them all in my tent at night. I had myself convinced that I could control my dreams, so each night I’d be like “hmm what do I want to dream about?” I’d flip through images in my head, and I’d always pick unicorns.

Sometime last year, one of my friends asked if I’d seen Unico & the Island of Magic It sounded really familiar and as soon as we started watching, I instantly remembered it. I told my mom about it when I got home, and she said I loved it as a little kid, back when I was 3. However, watching it as an adult, I realized, “whoa, it’s a fricken powerful cartoon/anime.” I really, really recommend it. It’s truly amazing. Plus, it’s about a unicorn. Can’t go wrong there :) I always liked The Last Unicorn, too. Odd, Mia Farrow was the voice of the unicorn and she’s in Samantha tonight.
Lastly, I think I’ve about decided on a Vaio S series. I just have to play with one at Best Buy, but Sony has a fantastic financing deal right now so I’ll buy from there. It’ll end up being less than the ThinkPad, and I think it looks nicer and is smaller. I’d love the half-inch Vaio but I’m not that rich.
UPDATE: Cool discovery, <a/> as a closing anchor tag in Firefox underlines
the right text but will show the color highlight on any text following that’s enclosed in the same tag. That’s pretty cool. Wonder how that works. Mouse over any of this text to see it work. Neat.
